TEMECULA: Motorcycle officer collides with truck SARAH BURGE / STAFF WRITER A Riverside County motorcycle deputy was injured Wednesday morning in a collision with a work truck that made a U-turn in front of him, authorities said. The officer was thrown to the ground but appeared to have suffered only minor injuries, Sgt. Joe Greco said. He was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation. The driver of the truck was not injured. Greco said the motorcycle was headed north on Ynez Road near La Paz Road about 9 a.m. in an area where roadwork was underway. A work truck pulled to the side of the street then made a U-turn directly in front of the motorcycle, he said. The officer’s motorcycle was totaled. Greco said the officer was doing traffic enforcement due to speeding in the area and might have been in the process of pulling over another vehicle when the crash occurred. The names of the truck driver and the deputy were not immediately released. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
