They have considered the FDR Memorial and the Federal Reserves as possible locations. b) In the evening theyre having their own formal Inaugural Ball. ---i) DC Cluster is invited, and attendees are encouraged to dress bling. 3) DC Action Medical Network (Rep: Jeremy) a) They are going to have a medical wellness tent. ---i) Theyre in the process of finding permits for parks, etc. b) They are coordinating out-of-town paramedics to come and volunteer their services. c) They will likely conduct health-and-safety training for affiliate groups, spokesgroups, etc. ---i) Date for training to be announced. 4) Mobilization for Global Justice (MGJ) (Rep: Peter II) a) They are coordinating a training center for affiliate groups, spokesgroups, etc. for non-violence training, etc. ---i) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] They are looking for instructiors to teach non-violence and other courses. 5) Youth Bloc NYC (Rep: Molly, all the way from NYC.) a) Theyre having a citywide discussion next week to plan/brainstorm actions for J20. ---i) They will likely have demonstrations in NYC as well as make accessible travelling from NY to DC to be involved in events in DC. They may contract buses to bring people to DC. ---ii) They will discuss coordination of a J20 Walkout from public high schools or other schools for NYC. 6) Outreach Working Group (Reps: Mo and Shahid) a) Theyre discussing pasting up flyers and door-to-door flyering. ---i) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] They need volunteers, groups, etc. to disseminate flyers. b) They are discussing having parties, concerts, raves, etc. to broadcast J20 calls to action. ---ii) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] They are looking for venues, ideas, organizers, etc. to help make this happen. c) They are coordinating an effort to hand out flyers on the metro and possibly do street theater on the metro. ---iii) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] Theyre looking for volunteers who dont mind interfacing with the general public and discussing J20 events, etc. with people aboard the metro. ---iv) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] Theyre open to volunteers who want to perform street theater. d) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] They will be passing around a hat or otherwise collecting donations at the next meeting to help pay for flyers, other materials, and other necessary expenses. Please contact them if youd like to make a donation or bring your donation to the next meeting. e) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] Theyre looking for local artists, musicians, etc. to contribute their talents. 7) Northeast Federation of Anarchist Communists (NEFAC) (Rep: Brian) a) Theyre preparing special print edition of their newspaper to distribute on or around J20. b) They will be meeting to coordinate for J20. 8) Anti-Racist Action Network (Rep: Brian) a) They may provide overflow housing in Baltimore. b) They will likely coordinate buses to bring people from Baltimore to DC. c) Theyre planning to meet to discuss plans for J20. 9) Mayday DC (Rep: Luke) a) They will coordinate something to highlight local issues in the city on J20, and are still in planning/idea stages regarding what that will be. 10) Legal Working Group (Rep: Carol) a) DC legal people will be hosting a fundraiser on the evening of Saturday, December 11. ---i) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] Come to the dance party to show your support or make a donation. (More info on entry fee, etc. will hopefully be provided to the list at a later date?) Party is from 9:00 PM to close at 1111 Kenyan, Washington DC, near Columbia Heights metro station. Snacks will be provided. b) They hope to have a December 30 meeting for new individuals (fresh blood) to get involved. c) J20 events will hopefully include legal training so that each group can have their own legal support. 11) Web/Listserv (Reps: Jim and Andy) a) Counter-inaugural.org site is pretty much done, and is very dynamic, lots of services. ---i) Calendars and many other services are available at the site. ---ii) Ridesharing/Housing board still forthcoming. ---iii) Site can handle individual working groups and other groups setting up their own message boards and other services. Please e-mail webteam(at)counter-inaugural.org if you are an empowered representative of a group that would like to set up its own message board on the counter-inaugural site and theyll get back to you as soon as they can. b) Listserv is up and running. ---i) Over 1,166 people are on the listserv. ---ii) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] Theyre looking for a few individuals with e-mail accounts to help VET (to screen messages that individuals are sending to the counter-inauguration listserv). Training will be provided to the vetters. If you would like to be a Counter-Inaugural Vetter please contact Andy at iloveparis(at)riseup.net. c) Any actions relevant to the counter-inauguration will be posted online at counter-inaugural.org. d) Theyre hoping to obtain a few more web addresses to make the site easier to find. e) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] Theyre looking for new members of their web team with database skills, graphic design skills, and web design skills. They are also looking for local venues who would like to contribute their space for events. b) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] They are looking for local artists and musicians to volunteer their time, services, and creative energy on J20. c) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] They are looking for visual artists to help design materials, etc. d) Are you in need of arts help? If you are an affiliate group or spokesgroup that would like assistance with creating flyers, posters, etc. please contact the Arts Working Group. 13) DC Indymedia (Rep: Nancy) a) They are hoping to open a media center to facilitate rapid dissemination of news and other media. ---i) They are looking for a good space for this to happen, as close to the action as they can get. b) They are looking for assistance with working on flyers, pasting up posters etc. on or around J20. 14) [OPEN DISCUSSION] An individual present discussed an idea to stage a mock Inaugural Ceremony on January 20 while the real thing was happening, with humorous actors and/or puppets posing as George Bush, Dick Cheney, Laura Bush, etc. The individual did not have a location yet in mind for this event and is looking for interest and support to make this happen. 15) DC Guerilla Poets (Rep: Shahid) a) [CALL FOR SUPPORT] They need artists of all kinds to contribute support for flyers, advertising, and other activities and events. b) They are having a Speakout on December 6, 2004, at 7:00 PM at the Dupont Circle fountain. 16) [OPEN DISCUSSION] An individual (me, Lacy,) expressed a desire to form a working group to address the need for portable toilets or bathrooms for demonstrators. It was pointed out that museums, offices, and businesses along the parade route should not be contacted and asked to offer their bathrooms to demonstrators unless they actually intend to close their doors that day, and the individual agreed to that.
