TEXAS WORKFORCE MEDIA ADVISORY Del Sol Medical Center Partners with El Paso Community College for $156,479 Job-Training Grant WHAT:Check Presentation - Skills Development Fund Grant (photo opportunity 2-foot by 4-foot check) WHO:TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Hope Andrade WHEN:9 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 WHERE:El Paso Community College, Administrative Services Center, Building A Foyer 9050 Viscount Blvd. El Paso, Texas 79925 Del Sol Medical Center has partnered with El Paso Community College to provide job training using a $156,479 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC.) The grant is part of TWC’s new Healthcare Innovation Project designed to meet the high demand for nurses in medically underserved areas. The grant will be used to custom train 247 new and incumbent workers so that they can maintain or earn the needed certifications to provide quality patient care. Those trained will include registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants. Upon completion of training, the workers will earn an average hourly wage of $24.84. TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Hope Andrade will present a check to El Paso Community College President Dr. William Serrata and representatives from Del Sol Medical Center at a 9 a.m. ceremony to be held in the foyer of the Administrative Services Center (Building A), located at 9050 Viscount Blvd. in El Paso.
