TGIF BY KELVIN CHESSA THINKING PATTERN OF AN ENTREPRENEUR Over the past few months I’ve sat down, contemplated, pondered upon and even heard from the horse mouth the things that drive an entrepreneur and also what really constitutes of their thoughts processes. Is it really a matter of being in business or something more than that? What drives them? What motivates them? How is it that a person, an entrepreneur at heart for that matter, even when in a high-flying job with good allowances, tantalizing six-figure incomes, short working hours, being a boss and playing golf on Monday mornings will still be restless at their current position? Well, in my quest for answers and sense of restlessness, I came across an article in the local dailies which gave me a clue and timeless insights on this matter. The author tabled that entrepreneurs feel restless when they are not where they should be. This condition is hard to describe especially when you have checked all the normal boxes: Regular income, right organization etc. This is not a justifiable restlessness by society standards. This state in entrepreneur’s heart makes them feel like a caged bird. Entrepreneurs simply do not conform to what is expected of them. Conformity will kill any entrepreneurial streak that one may have. That fearful voice of what people may think whenever you have an idea they don’t listen to it. They come in reality to who they really are. They know every human being is different and they get comfortable with that difference. This difference is what is truly authentic about them and that is what attracts people to them. This authenticity is why they end up succeeding in extra ordinary ways. Entrepreneurship entails a liberty to try out new things. It means freedom to think, to go out and experiment with an idea, make mistakes, if you fail, you learn a lesson; if it works you build on it. Being an entrepreneur means freedom to plan and allocate time. Entrepreneurship means freedom to wake up and create your own experience. It’s not all about being in business. It is following a call to achieve something or have an impact the world around you that is greater than one individual. You might start something and it fails, you are in a transition. Don’t give up or give in. Entrepreneurs understand that it doesn’t always have to make sense but follow instincts to plunge into the initial stage and allow motive to sustain you through the journey. All the best all the entrepreneurs out there. Let’s meet at the top. “If you are clear about what you want, the world responds with clarity.”- Loretta Staples.
