TGIF TIP # 12---Dont Waste Money On Supplements. I used to be a believer in a daily vitamin---and I think it is ok if you take one. The best thing is to get your vitamins through your food. Dont fall for the hype--for women,for men, for vitality etc. This is Marketing--remember vitamins are processed--some use food coloring. Vitamins do not need Govt approval--look for USP label--this indicates that the vitamins have been tested--Costco sells a good multi . People ask--what should I take? eat well of course. I have four vitamins in house at all times. Multi--if I dont eat well I take one at night D3--during the winter or on days we have no sun--I take one--2000 C--if I am around people with a cold, in large groups , or I feel a cold coming on---I take one in the morning and one at night--500 Fish Oil--if I dont eat fish on three consecutive days-I take one 600 epa, 400 dha. I use vitamins as a back up--as insurance--. I also take on baby aspirin once a week. Aspirin is good on many levels--prevents blood clots, heart disease and maybe colon cancer.
