Day 2: Bangkok City Sights (B, L, D) A full day city tour includes Temple of the Golden Buddha, Wat Po Temple and Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Royal Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha, Jim Thompson House. Tonight, you will take a boat cruise with dinner on Chaophraya river. Overnight in Bangkok Day 3: Kanchanaburi Day Tour (B, L) Kanchanaburi is Thailand´s third largest of 76 provinces. It is located 130 km west of Bangkok. It is situated on the River Kwai and the home of the famous Bridge on the River Kwai, immortalized in Pierre Boulle’s same named novel and David Leans movie. Transfer to Kanchanaburi. The trip visits to War Museum (World War II); an open air museum constructed in the form of actual prisoners of war (POW) camp, there are collection of photographs, pictures, articles, pistols, knives and other items from the construction of the “Death Railway”. Since they originally migrated from South China, the physical features of the tribe are similar to Chinese. They prefer large families and average about 8 in a family. They practice shifting agriculture. Mostly planting upland rice, corn and soybeans. Generally you will find that the womenfolks works harder than the men. A trait similar with most hill tribes. Their houses are not built on stilt rather directly on the ground. Due to its proximity to Doi Suthep this particular village is slightly more commercial and less traditional. Doi Pui was once famous for opium cultivation. Its 1500 meters above the sea level. Trip continues on to Wat Doi Suthep Temple. Driving up offers a panoramic view of Chiang Mai city. Later on, embark to the San Kamphaeng district, heart of the silk and cotton home industries, to witness the fascinating process of making and weaving these popular fabrics. Continue on the Bor Sang, the umbrella village, where the delicate Thai paper umbrellas are produced and hand-painted. From here, onwards to Thai Celadon, about 6kms north of Chiang Mai, where exquisite ceramics are produced. These are modeled on the Sawankhalok pottery that used to be made hundreds of years ago at Sukhothai and exported all over the region. With its deep, cracked glazed finish the style is very distinctive and some pieces are exceptionally beautiful. Last but not least, stop to observe the intricacies of both lacquer ware and silverware craftsmen. Overnight in Chiang Mai. Day 11: Chiang Rai Golden Triangle. (B, L) Today after an early breakfast, you will go to Chiang Rai. You will visit the hot spring on the way and then continue to the ancient city, Chiang Saen. Carry on to where the 3 country borders meet - which is called “Golden Triangle”. After lunch, transfer to Mae Sai, the Thailand and Myanmar border city. Finally, visit to the Akha and Yao hilltribe villages on you return to Chiang Mai. Dinner and Overnight in Chiang Mai. Day 12: Elephant Safari Tour (B. L) Breakfast at hotel, embark to the Elephants Camp to see the elephants at work in a jungle area, see how the elephants are train for working with human and the elephant shows. Then, you will be an exciting ride on the elephant ride along the trails, and followed by Ox-Cart ride back to the camp. Lunch at the elephant camp.
