THANK YOU ALL for the birthday wishes! You helped make it an amazing day and I am grateful for the lot of you. This time last year I was on a very cold Greyhound bus slugging my way to Iowa, the beginning of my next chapter. What a beginning it has been. This past year has been filled with new people, experiences, memories and so much more love for life and self than I ever could have imagined. For the first time in my life I feel completely comfortable in my skin and completely at ease with my place in the world. I stepped on that bus a year ago on my birthday and now that I look back I realize that I was starting my own rebirth. Being in charge of my own destiny, making choices and taking chances has been one of the most surreal experiences of my life. I will always be changing, evolving, moving, growing, loving, laughing, breathing and I know that loving who you are in the now helps it all to be so much easier. That is just part of what I learned this year. I also learned about generosity of spirit, the kindness of strangers and the power of friendship. Ive laughed and cried with so many of you this year that I cannot even wrap my head around the enormity of it all. It is seriously overwhelming at times, but in the way that makes me want to shout from the rooftops about how life is beautiful and how lucky I am. Slowly but surely Ive gained traction on this thing called life, and even though its taken me 36 years, I think I have a good idea of what I am doing, even if some days it makes absolutely no sense. I am letting go of fear in favor of experiences and so far it has paid off in spades. So thank you, thank you all for helping to make this year magic. Old and new, here and there.
