THANKS TO YOU FROM ME For 43 years, a tradition to give a tree, - TopicsExpress

THANKS TO YOU FROM ME For 43 years, a tradition to give a tree, our way we express sincere thanks. In 1918, Halifax sent a Christmas tree to the City of Boston in thanks and remembrance for the help that the Boston Red Cross and the Massachusetts Public Safety Committee had provided immediately after the disaster. That gift was revived in 1971 by the Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Producers Association. I been always interested in our local History, and I know how important history is, so I wrote this song and hope I done justice. Mother was the first to tell me some things about the Halifax Explosion, telling small bits of storys, then learned more in school and books. One I remember her saying as though from her mothers words, where at the time 1917, Mum was only a year old then and that where they lived fifty some miles from Halifax, in Murchville, dishes and fine tea ware were even rattling in the cupboard. There were claims that the explosion actually was felt here and there all over Nova Scotia.
