THE 2013/2014 BUDGET: TRANSFORMATION FOR SHARED PROSPERITY *************** ************* ******** Health-Sh34.7bi llion, Transport-Sh125 billion, Energy-78.5bill ion, ICT-9.5billion, and Education and Technology Sh130billion. 67billion allocated to the police with Sh 4billion for equipment purchase, 3billion for leasing of patrol vehicles and 4billion for crime research. Sh75 billion allocated for investment in energy and Sh43.8 billion for power transmission. Sh97 billion set aside for road repair and construction. Sh 10.3billion for free primary education, sh2.6billion to school feeding programme, and Sh20.9 to free day secondary education and another sh52billion for the laptops project:1.3m laptops to be bought. Sh246 to go to development expenditure, Sh8.6 billion for Youth Polytechnics, Sh4.9 billion to Higher Educations Loans Board. Parliament gets Sh19 billion for expanded representation and bicameral system installation. Judiciary allocated Sh16.1 billion for reforms geared at hastening delivery of justice. The county governments will receive Sh210 billion which is less than Sh258 billion which senators had proposed. Tax reduction on Senator Keg beer by 50 per cent to boost agricultural activities in barley and sorghum growing areas.
