THE 88 is a band that defies convention and easy labeling, their fans are as eclectic and widespread as their music. Thanks to catchy pop hooks, irresistible melodies, and high-energy live performances, THE 88 have caught the eyes and ears of fans and rock peers. This has led to opening slots for Ray Davies, Smashing Pumpkins, B-52s, The Flaming Lips, Rilo Kiley, Matt Costa, Black Francis and Elliott Smith to name a few.Yet their accomplishments surpass the boundaries of the music industry as their songs have been used and featured in countless TV shows, films, and commercials. Their music has been featured on hit television shows like How I Met Your Mother, Grey’s Anatomy, Weeds, Gossip Girl and Community (they perform the main theme song), as well as in national Sears, Target, NASCAR, and NFL campaigns. Now, in 2010, THE 88 release their finest collection of songs yet. Melding various influences ranging from British Invasion-era bands to 70’s glam and garage rock, the self-titled album will appeal to audiences everywhere. This is especially evident in the rollicking and rocking first single, “They Ought to See You Now” which features additional vocals by the legendary Ray Davies.
