THE AMBASSADOR ATTENDED 5th INDIA INTERNATIONAL WATER SUMMIT HOSTED BY INDIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (ICC) ICC organised 5th India International Water Summit focussed on Vision 2020-Towards Sustainable Water Management. The Seminar was supported by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. It was partnered by the Embassy of Denmark (country partner) and Danish Water Forum (event partner). During the seminar some important issues related to water were raised like India has more than 17 percent of the world’s population, but has only 4% of world’s renewable water resources with 2.6% of world’s land area. The seminar also focussed on the three imperative areas -India’s Swachh Bharat Mission, Water Supply and Sanitation and Urban Water Management. Mr Shankar Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India were amongst the key speakers and expressed that the ministry is now focusing on clean and affordable water for all which will be achieved under Swaach Bharat initiative by 2019. The Ambassador, Freddy Svane also shared his thoughts about what Denmark has to offer in relation to existing water scenario in India. Eminent Danish companies-Grundfos, DHI and Danfoss that have strong existence in India were also present and showcased the Danish Water technologies through their demo models.
