THE ARABIAN NIGHT LUNCHEON The luncheon adventure organized by The Bali Ladies Champange Club on July 16th 2014 was a dream come true. Even though I was fasting that day, I could not miss the opportunity to be with the ladies and try out the complimentary massage from Prana Spa. Even though I was fasting that day, they had graciously packed for me a meal to break fast later that night. As I arrived at the spa, the staff waited and ushered me to the waiting room where I felt welcomed and relaxed. While waiting, my friends were served with ginger and lemon tea. According to them, it was delicious. The ambience in the room was cozy and the décor was stunning, complimented with comfy couches. While waiting for the rest of the members, us girls took some obligatory selfie-shots. After that, Astha and I went around and feasted our eyes with all the beautiful ethnic accessories that were displayed in the showcases. It was finally time for the massage and we were asked to choose from a variety of oils that will be used during the massage session. We were then ushered to the changing room. We had to pass through the courtyard and I was enthralled by the exotic fusion architecture inspired by castles in the Middle East and the Taj Mahal in India. It was hard to describe as I see it is a mix of Indian, Turkish and Middle Eastern so I whipped out my camera so that the pictures could do more of the talking. The courtyard is an al fresco small garden filled with palm and fragipani trees that played a part in contributing to the very calm and shady environment. There are also tables with umbrellas laid out outdoors to lounge on. I saw a restaurant and thought to myself that it would be nice to have lunch or tea there someday – when it wasn’t during Ramadhan of course. As we climbed up the stairs and looked up, we saw a breathtaking view above making us feel as if we were in the middle of an oasis. We finally reached the entrance. The door opened to us and produced a spectacular sight of stunning interior of the spa where it was painted with rich and vibrant colors of the earth and sky. The corridors that we were ushered towards were decorated with lush, exotic carpets and pointed horseshoe archways that were draped with luscious curtains. The doors and walls were carved with intricate abstract and geometric patterns depicting the Middle Eastern influences. I couldn’t help but feel like I was in a fairy tale from an Arabian Night. The details of the pathway ooze elegance and have character that will charm and make guests feel overwhelmed with luxury and calmness. The changing room was another area that was decorated stylishly with rich textures, patterns and vivid colours. The spa came equipped with individual lockers for guests, where we stored our belongings and got ready for our highly anticipated massage session. We were then led to our individual treatment rooms, ready in our robes and slippers. As I entered the dim lit room, I immediately felt calmed and relaxed. They started the session with a foot bath with salt scrub then proceeded for a massage. The full body massage was heaven and it was so pleasurable which after a few minutes, I dozed off and was drifted away completely. Immediately after the wonderful massage, my masseur gave me a special tour of the entire place. There are so many different treatment rooms, baths, steam rooms, hot/cold pools and relaxing areas all decorated sophisticatedly. I was definitely impressed with the steam room ceiling, where it was decorated with lights that looked like stars in the night sky. Afterwards, I went down to the The Prana Restaurant where all my friends enjoyed their amazing luncheon while I occupied myself by taking lots off memorable photos.
