THE ASSASSINS Alhamdulillah! The SSS has nabbed and paraded the suspected assassins of sheik Muh Awwal Albany. The press was also allowed to interview them. And their confessions recorded. This is a Good development indeed. What remains is a fair trial and whoever is convicted even if remotely linked should be executed or hanged publicly. Malik narrated from Saeed bin al- Musayyib that Umar bin al- Khattab executed five or seven people because of one man they killed in cold blood. He then said: “even if the people of Sanaa (Yemeni capital city) would connive to kill him, I will execute them all” ﻋﻦ ﺳﻌﻴﺪ ﺑﻦ ﺍﻟﻤﺴﻴﺐ، ﺃﻥ ﻋﻤﺮ ﺑﻦ ﺍﻟﺨﻄﺎﺏ ﻗﺘﻞ ﻧﻔﺮﺍ , ﺧﻤﺴﺔ ﺃﻭ ﺳﺒﻌﺔ ﺑﺮﺟﻞ ﻭﺍﺣﺪ , ﻗﺘﻠﻮﻩ ﻗﺘﻞ ﻏﻴﻠﺔ , ﻭﻗﺎﻝ ﻋﻤﺮ: ﻟﻮ ﺗﻤﺎﻷ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﺃﻫﻞ ﺻﻨﻌﺎﺀ ﻟﻘﺘﻠﺘﻬﻢ ﺟﻤﻴﻌﺎ. )ﻣﻮﻃﺄ ﻣﺎﻟﻚ ) This kind of transparency and fair trial is what will succeed in uprooting this evil from the society. The lawyers and the court of justice should also try to rule out cover-ups and false framing. The unexpected death of one of them at the point of apprehension (kabiru) should be of great interest as he may hold some secrets as to the financiers and promoters. May Allah continue to guide us and protect us all.
