*THE ASSIGNMENT* ~ “Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously.” (Matt.10:6-8) ~ “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” (Matt.16:19) (y) Recently while traveling I heard on a Gospel station, an old song: “Heaven is a wonderful place, Filled with glory and grace; I want to see my Savior’s face, O Heaven is a wonderful place.” I smiled as I thought of my husband and me singing that in a quartet over 40-years ago. Perhaps we get a tear in our eye when we hear these songs; thinking of our loved ones who have gone on before us. And... Heaven is a wonderful place! But we must understand that Heaven is more than a place we will go when we die. If we relegate Heaven to only a place in the sky in the “sweet by and by” – we are missing out on what is ours for this life. “Where is Heaven?” To the blood-bought, redeemed child of God, lets take a fresh look with “eyes to see.” ~ “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” (Eph.1:3) We are blessed already in Heavenly places because we are now united with Christ. When the religious leaders demanded that Jesus tell them where the Kingdom was, He answered, “…the Kingdom is within.” (Luke.17:21) When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, IN earth as it is in Heaven,” (Matt.6:10), He intended that we do just that! We are the instruments by which He delivers the Kingdom of Heaven in this earth. What an assignment! He has chosen YOU to deliver His life, His message, His hope to this world. Change the atmosphere with His love and grace! Jesus went back to Heaven, leaving us with these words: “Peace to you. Just as the Father sent Me, I send you.” Then He breathed into them (and us), “Receive the Holy Spirit” (Jn.20:21) . You can do this – But not without His Kingdom within!
