THE BEST SKI RESORT IN THE WORLD - ZERMATT, SWITZERLAND Zermatt recently won two prestigious awards: -Best ski resort in the Alps 2014 and -Best ski resort in the world (voted for by skiresorts-test) The criteria was based on perfectly prepared slopes, reliable snow coverage, legendary hospitality, authentic atmosphere and first-rate après ski fun. Zermatt offers 247 km of slopes for unlimited skiing. The three ski resorts of Rothorn, Gornergrat and Matterhorn glacier paradise are open. Zermatt is the highest ski resort in the Alps (3,883 m) and therefore it is guaranteed snow. The facilities located over an altitude of up to 2,000 m are open. This means that 247 km out of a maximum of 360 km of slopes are open, 42 of the 54 facilities are running. Shorter journey time from Geneva - Lausanne: The new half-hour train connection on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, which travels from Visp to the centre of Zermatt, cuts down the journey time of visitors from Paris, Geneva, Lausanne and people travelling from the French-speaking part of Switzerland, by 30 minutes. This is thanks to a new timetable with a direct connection.
