THE BIG TICKET REVIEW - KICK Eid in India almost seems - TopicsExpress

THE BIG TICKET REVIEW - KICK Eid in India almost seems incomplete without a major Bollywood release in todays times and this Eid we have Sajid Nadiawalas Salman Khan starrer Kick! 10 minutes into the film you will know that this one is going to be no different to most of Salmans masala flicks. This isnt necessarily a bad thing depending on which side of the spectrum you fall on. Once you let that sink in, Kick is a thoroughly enjoyable affair. Salman Khan plays a person who seeks an adrenaline rush from almost everything he does. His character is extremely talented but cannot commit to one thing for long as he is always searching for kicks. As his best friend says Woh human being nahi, being human hai.. (Figure it out :p ). This habit of his becomes the bane of his relationship as he fails to fulfill the demands of his lady love (Jacqueline) and her father. Almost 80% of the half is naratted by Jacqueline during a conversation with Randeep Hooda on a subway train in Warsaw, Poland. Randeep (playing a top cop) then talks about this thief named Devil, who has left a dark mark on his otherwise perfect career. They both however dont realise that they are indeed talking about the same person. This then leads us into the interval sequence. Why is Devil stealing from a group of influential people? Is it because he wants his dose of Kick or is there some sort of personal vendetta behind it? Will the arms if the law finally catch upto him or will the ever so sly Devil always be one step ahead? This forms the 2nd half of the story. Performances wise Salman Khan does what he does best, i.e be the guy, his fans idolize so much. Jacqueline doesnt have much to do and she impresses whenever on screen. Randeep Hooda is a big plus and the support cast has done well too. Nawazuddins role felt a bit forced and in my opinion he didnt get enough screen space to showcase his potential. Mithun Chakraborty is fun in his small cameo & especially dazzles in his father-son scenes with Salman. There are some really nice sequences in the film that deserve mention. Salmans cafe fight, Mithun and Salmans first scene together, the Cycle chase scene and the final two scenes between Salman and Randeep. Kick is a masala entertainer, just like it promised. If you keep an open mind, you will like it. If you are looking for something Nolanesque (intellectual) stay away! #Parker
