THE BIG YELLOW MAKES RETURN FOR MANY! Morning Everyone. Well after days of persistent rain for much of the region thanks for a moist easterly flow, the large high pressure system that brought mainly fine weather to Southland throughout has moved far enough north to bring in much more settled weather over the region. Slightly different layout used for this mornings forecast as it best suits the forecast today. The general rule for today is, the further south in the region that you live, the longer the sunshine hours and therefore the brighter the forecast. Overnight lows between Ashburton and Timaru dipped to 0 - 1 degrees with frosty conditions about for some. Morning cloud is about in areas further north but should clear quite quickly early morning for many. Expect plenty of sunshine by late morning almost everywhere. Low cloud is likely to roll back in later this evening. Inland Canterbury follows the same pattern. Expect any areas of cloud to clear with plenty of sunshine from mid morning with light winds. Conditions clear from the south to the north throughout the morning. Kaikoura, you will have a few drizzly showers about this morning that you need to get through, then by midday any drizzle patches should be gone and fine spells should be about this afternoon. Winds are light and variable inland, with light northeast breezes about coastal areas. Daily Highs + Overnight Lows: Kaikoura - 13, 7 Christchurch - 11, 2 Ashburton - 11, 2 Timaru - 10, 1 Have a great day and ill be back in the morning with the weekends outlook. At this stage its not looking too bad with Saturday the pick of the days in terms of sunshine! - LT
