THE BURNT OFFERING Leviticus :1: 1-4 (NKJV) 1. Now the Lord called to Moses, and spoke to him from the tabernacle of meeting, saying, 2. “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When any one of you brings an offering to the Lord, you shall bring your offering of the livestock—of the herd and of the flock. 3. ‘If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it of his own free will at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord. (All we offer to God though it is commanded must be of our own free will as it always has been since the beginning.) 4. Then he shall put his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him. 5 He shall kill the bull before the Lord; and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall bring the blood and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of meeting. Sound familiar? It should because its a perfect picture of the Lamb of God. The sacrifice was thoroughly examined for approval by the High priest, the sacrificer always put his hands on the head of the offering and confessed his sins at the time of the slaying of the animal. This act transferred the sins into the animal and cleanses the sacrificer, when the animal is accepted before The Lord, the sacrificer then leaves free from sin knowing that he is forgiven completely. He does not at anytime become sin-conscious because he knows hes forgiven. When you bring a lamb sacrifice to God is it you He examines or your lamb? He examines the lamb, today that is Jesus! When we come before Our Father in heaven our offering is also examined. Jesus paid the ultimate price once and for all. When God examines us He sees the Lamb of God who is perfect in every way; in every angle and blameless. God did not see the children of Israel in the natural but He saw them in the spiritual, being completely covered in the blood of their offerings. Always remember that the first shedding of blood for the remission of sins was done by God. (Genesis 3:21.) From animals that God had taught Adam to offer as sacrifice in looking forward to the promised redeemer. (Hebrews 9:21) You are under the Blood of the Lamb, isnt that revelation an amazing measure of peace in your mind, soul and spirit?
