THE CHURCH ~N~ VOGUE. STYLES, FADS AND TRENDS. PART 1 They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water. Jeremiah 2:11-13 Christianity is chocked full of Spiritual fads, methods, styles, and trends and they are becoming addictive habits for many pastors and their congregations. I personally know both Pentecostal and Charismatic pastors who feel they have little to offer their people as far as; Gods presence and His powerful acts of the supernatural are concerned. So they look to who “they” find impressive, or successful, maybe some famous preacher, they begin to impersonate, copy and even morph into somebody they are not with the motivation of keeping Gods people in the house. Ive watched pastor friends of mine come back from a convention or a conference after sitting under some famous prophet or evangelist and return to their churches mimicking them. Throwing their suit jackets on people or blowing their breath on church members to watch the people fall, Safely into the “church-catchers” hands. I believe this is playing, trifling with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. One pastor friend of mine once told me, thank God for the internet...the congregations already heard all I had to preach, but now, I never run out of sermons... I just Google them. Because of the millions leaving the organized church, could it be that pastors are getting desperate to hang onto their church members by keeping them interested in something outside the box? Some will try just about anything to keep them spiritually mesmerized and satisfied. The pastor may go along with what’s new out of insecurity, yet knowing full-well the teachings will impact church members exposing them to “strange fire”. Some will ignore that fact for many reasons. They may be controlled by their feelings of insecurity and are afraid that the people won’t relate to their leadership unless he can produce something, anything that has otherworldly properties .
