THE CIVIL SOCIETY OWES NOBODY APOLOGY FOR SUPPORTING THEIR OWN BUT EXPLANATION: Some persons are angry because the Edo Civil Society Organisations is supporting one of their own, we do not have any apology for doing so, the reason we are where we are today is because the Civil Society groups before now have always thought that they should not be involved in politics thereby leaving it for thugs and miscreants who will in turn create stress for the people. The civil society have had so many agitations and protests to embark upon because laws were made in bad fate, for instance, the environmental law that has sent so many people to jail in recent time in Edo state, the monthly fraudulent Fixed Charge on electricity bills that has made the Edo Civil Society Organisations be on the street for ten days which struggle is still on till date and so many other anti-people policies put in place by vandals in power. How long shall we continue to complain and protest against all these actions of the calibre of people we have all left governance for? We must begin to encourage our very best to be in government if we want to live a comfortable life. The best way to solve a problem is by uprooting it from the root, all the problems we have as a nation is bad leadership, when we enthrone good leadership, all things will full in place, the time to start is now. Comrade (Dr) Philip Ugbodaga created the platform called Coalition To Save Nigeria (CSN) in 2012, a network of several civil society groups, student unions, Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, Market Women, Bike Riders etc to protest against the removal of Fuel Subsidy. He is a man that has been on the street fighting for the people, a surgeon dentist per excellence who will leave his highly respected office on several instances and carry placards on the street to protest against oppression, intimidation and bad laws made my thugs and agberos in Anthony Enahoro Complex. His passion for the people is visible in his constituency, If I want to write all he has been doing for the society and his people, the whole day wont be enough. The Civil Society have never overtly or covertly supported any political candidate because we cannot vouch for anyone of them the way we have done for our own that has been tested and trusted to represent the good people of Akoko-Edo Constituency 11 in Edo House of Assembly come 2015. We need more passionate and altruistic persons like Comrade Ugbodaga who want true change in our society to indicate interest in politics whether in APC, PDP or Labour Party, we will support them, only in doing this we all will have peace. Enough of Agberos leading us.
