THE DANGERS OF DOGS AND CHICKEN BONES. Sad day. Someone just brought in a sweet little dog that had to be euthanized. The dog has swallowed a chicken bone and it had punctured the poor little things trachea. Yes....we cried. Everyone knows that chicken bones are dangerous for dogs to eat — especially cooked chicken bones — because they’re dry & brittle and they splinter into lots of tiny (and sharp!) pieces inside your puppy’s tummy after they’ve been chewed & swallowed. And can also puncture other vital parts. So PLEASE...keep the bones in a trash can that the dogs cannot gain access to them. PLEASE do not knowingly feed them chicken with bones in it. IF you must feed them chicken, please feed them boneless, skinless chicken...its lower in fat and much safer for the animal. And makes a much happier day for us.
