THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, my friends, is a crucial day in - TopicsExpress

THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, my friends, is a crucial day in American history and thus throughout the world. It is the day when our country will either intensify the current political paralysis of the three branches of government -- executive, legislative, judicial -- or begin the healing process. Midterm elections have marked many turning points in our nations history, and this could be one of them. I am constantly reminded of the midterm election of 1918 (although I was only two years old at the time) when Woodrow Wilsons Democrats lost control of Congress, resulting in Americas rejection of membership in the League of Nations and fulfilling Wilsons prophecy that there would be another World War within a generation. Could Tuesdays midterm mark the turning point that could bring us another Cold War and even World War 3? Foreign Policy is not even considered an issue in most American elections, including this one. But voters seem ready to elect men and women who are blissfully ignorant of the rest of the world. I think that has to stop. I implore you, my friends in America, to go the polls Tuesday determined to elect representatives who are aware that America is slipping in the worlds esteem. Too many Americans have bought the false idea that government is the impediment, rather than the possible solution, for addressing our urgent problems of health, education, tax reform, infrastructure and even defense. Your decision should not be based on party lines, but unfortunately it is. Fortunately we have a president who understands the worlds problems and does not rush into rash decisions. Unfortunately those who oppose him often do so for the worst of reasons. I ask you, my American friends abroad who have already voted, to do one more thing to save our country from electoral disgrace. Please use TODAY or TOMORROW to urge at least two friends back home to get to the polls to vote the right way on Tuesday. Or to use the time to email friends urging them to vote to save our country from even worse deadlock. Or both. Please feel free to circulate this further. With my warm regards, John G Morris
