THE DAY OF THE LORD IS COMING;Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. It is close at hand-- (Joel 2:1).The day of the Lord in this context typically refers to Gods judgment on the land of Israel.The blowing of the trumpet is to warn the people of the impending invasion of the land by the mighty nation.The blowing of the trumpet is to alert the people to alert each other of the day of the Lord.It is to sound the warning so that all the inhabitants of the land will tremble and repent.Our Lord Jesus in his commission to the church instructed the church to keep sounding the trumpet that he will come again and he is coming soon,so we should call the perishing to the saving knowledge of Jesus.The day of the Lord is nearer than we first heard it so we should not lose our guard and in the same way,we should blow the trumpet for the inhabitants to know,hear and tremble.May the Good Lord empower Us to share His good news with others and to remind others that the day of our Lord is very near.Amen.
