THE DHARMA IS ONE: One of the readers in our discussion group, Mandala Group pointed out that my last article entitled MENTAL EXERCISE IS ESSENTIAL FOR MENTAL FITNESS is related to another article entitled THE TRINITY OF BUDDHISM. I have to refer back to see what I have written in The Trinity of Buddhism. Yes, indeed The Trinity of Buddhism is more complete. It also emphasized the importance of morality in our pursuit of PEACEFUL BLISS. She is absolutely right. l am glad to know that many in the group have followed the articles closely and have shown much progress in their understanding of the Dharma. They have become much wiser. (It is worthwhile pointing out here that some of them started right from square one.) l highlighted to her that ultimately she will notice that all the topics are inter-connected. The Dharma is ONE. We break it up into small parts for better understanding. At the end, when we have reasonably understood all the small parts, we will have to put them back together to complete the zigsaw puzzle entitled THE DHARMA. Sitting meditation is a great challenge to many, especially the beginners. It is also a great challenge to me to build the bridge to bridge the gap of understanding. I shall cover it anyway, in due course. After that we have to transcend the concept of dualism that is so real in our mind with the understanding of non-dualism (sunyata). To put these into words is like building Penang 1st. bridge and 2nd. bridge. We will have to build them anyway so that many may cross; so that the Zigsaw Puzzle of THE DHARMA is more complete. Along the way, l need your input to point out to me if any of the parts or articles appeared too difficult to understand so that I can attempt to rewrite them or perhaps add in a few more supplementary articles to help in the digestion of those tough meat. Wish you all the best in your earnest endeavour to travel with me along this not-so-easy and not-so-difficult Middle Path. Thank you for your patience and kind effort. Incidentally, LAUUT sounds to me like it means the Universal Ocean with its double u. Referring to the article entitled WATER (OCEAN), THE EMBODIMENT OF UNIVERSAL ACCEPTANCE. Wonderful isnt it? LAUUT is a meaningful metaphor. It is the candle that burns bright, that rekindles other candles along its way. It has a noble role to play in this world. Sadhu x 3. NB: The Malay word LAUT = SEA and LAUTAN = OCEAN. LAUUT is a Mandarin translation of RAUB, the little golden town with lush greeneries situated at the umbilicus of Peninsula Malaysia. This is the place where the majority of the members of Mandala Group hail. They have grown up together in the same environment where THE DHARMA was once unheard of. They have come together for the common purpose of threading the Middle Path towards PEACEFUL BLISS. # TLG.
