“THE EAGLE HAS LANDED, MALAWI TO DIVORCE POVERTY FROM 2019” – SAYS A NEWLY FRAMED PARTY IN MALAWI By Rousevelt Kanjautso Associate Editor A newly established political party is yet to register its colors on Malawi’s political landscape, Malawian Watchdog has learn. The party, which is being named Confederation Action Party of Malawi (Capm), has been informally declared by its interim President Mr. Joshua Chisa Mbele, commonly known as JC Mbele and is set to enter the 2019 elections race. According to Mbele, the party will start its national wide dialogue and sensitization in February 2015, where among other endeavors, it will start putting structures in place. The party’s interim President further alludes that the party is inclined at ‘divorcing the undesirable marriage between Malawi and poverty’. Among other strategies, the interim President has revealed that the party will bring massive reforms in government business approach and political style. “Chitipa to Nsanje. Mchinji to Salima. It’s time to kill traditional political landscape. Time to devolve power and accelerate development through planned and sustainable Industrialization, Commercial Farming, Education and Skills Development, and reorganize the Justice System to adequately serve the planned economy. Capm has the vision and determination to ensure that Malawi joins the advanced economies by 2060. 40 years of hard work is ahead of the nation,” Mbele says. Explaining on the party’s designed Insignia, Mr. Mbele highlights that “the Gold (which is appearing to the left strand) stands for industrialization of Economy. Green (appearing to the right strand) for our Commercialization or Mechanization of Agriculture. White (placed at the center) is not for a white man, but Transparency in everything.” The Emblem has a landing Eagle superimposed on the middle white strand and offering its explanation, Mbele said that the “Eagle is for precision and formidable defense of the chosen route”. In his further explanation, the interim President said that the party is set to release a website and online membership shortly. The President was quick to point out that the party is aware of the masses that are in villages where this proposed technology would be impractical and out of touch. “But we are aware that the masses are in our villages. People at Goliati, people at Bvumbwe, Mpherembe, Ntchenachena, Kabunduri, Nsatso etc. We are going to reach every single citizen and explain why we are where we are and what we must do to reduce political tension and embark on development. No nation was born superior. We believe Malawi’s misery is sheer choice, and we must do away with that choice,” he said.
