THE END OF THE WORLD! !! !!! Study Matthew 24:1-14 The question of the end of the world is as fascinating today as it was during the time of our Lord Jesus Christ. In addition,Matthew 24,Mark 13 and Luke 21:5-36 present a picture of the period between the destruction of the temple referred to in the passage and the second coming of our Lord,Jesus Christ. In His teaching,Jesus warned His followers to be aware of widespread deception and approaching calamities(Verse 4-6). He also asked them not to panic as the calamities would not be the indicator of the end of the world rather pointers that the end is not only near but also certain. Indeed,different calamities and persecutions at different times in history have caused many people to assume that the end of the world had arrived,only for that period to pass and life goes on. Read 2 Peter 3:3-9 for some helpful insight. There will always be hospility to the believers and so what matters are not the dates but for the believers to be faithful,endure hardships and be actively involved in spreading the Gospel to all the people of the world(Verse 14). PRAY THIS PRAYER! Help me,O Lord,to live faithfully as I await Your second coming.
