THE ENEMY WITHIN ARE WEARING CANBERRA SUITS The ranks of old soldiers are thinning each day The survivors dig deeper for bills to pay Politicians have broken election promises yet again Betrayal and hypocrisy it seems is just the same Canberra suits continue to gather personal treasure Old soldiers can’t even get set boxes for TV pleasure Today as retired pollies travel in limousines and planes Old soldiers queue for crowded buses and trains What was it that Rudd recently said ? “We must honour those who wore the national thread” We have tried for years to reason with debate Perhaps one last hurrah before its too late? Cos old soldiers have had enough Trying to live on CPI is rather tough We sure are getting the pineapple where it’s rough Our golden rule in soldiering days was to share But this current theme of them and us sure ain’t fair All we want is a fair go But those b******s in Canberra continue to say no Why such discrimination to us they clearly show? Hang on, here’s an idea from some of our mob We hire a boat and from the north we lob One thing for sure; we won’t have to pay bills Then riot and burn some huts to show our will Nah. I prefer the other way without being a lout Increase pressure in marginals and vote the b******s out
