THE ER VISIT IS NOT FREE, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BILL. If you are not dying, in danger of losing a limb or have a serious injury, please stay out of the Emergency Room. You do not need to go to the ER to get a prescription for Advil or Tylenol, you do not need to go to the ER if you have a paper cut and you do not need to go to the ER because you ran out of your medication...today is Saturday, wait until Monday and call your Doctor and next month make sure on Thursday you have enough for the weekend. Also, you do not need to go to the ER for a routine physicial or for that xray or MRI that your doctor wants you to have. You go to the outpatient department.... Americas ERs are being overrun by non emergent cases showing up taking time and delaying care for the REAL Emergency cases.. STOP and think before you go, can this wait and can I be seen somewhere else, and also......do you really want to expose yourself to all the germs that are in the ERs?? And stop bringing in healthy family members that youve now exposed to all those germs. If you really feel that you need to be seen in an ER then by all means go to the ER.. OH and its not the ER doctor that admits you to the hospital, he makes a recommendation and then its up to the hospitalists and primary care physicians to admit you and no the nurse cannot just get you a room and then find a doctor later.....And calling an ambulance is not going to get you treated any faster if its non emergent....they have all sorts of options out there, stand alone clinics, urgent cares etc...use those first...trust me, if they feel you need to go to the ER theyll transfer you !!! Ok....my advice of the day.....lol Feel free to share !!
