THE FATHERLESS GENERATION (A heartfelt cry of the young ones) While the Church has well addressed so many subjects in our world today; one most crucial issue crippling the church and yet ignored is the relationship of the leader and the follower, a father-child relationship (Mentor-ship). I have seen many new-born children of God die because of negligence; I have seen potential young people go back to sin. I have seen future leaders stumble and fall. We are a generation of independent toddlers. A generation where crawling babies are left alone to cook for themselves and take care of themselves and other toddlers. WHO IS TO BLAME? In the book of Titus (2:1ff) we see the Apostle Paul instructing Titus his son in the Lord to teach older men and older women, the same older men and women are instructed to groom the young ones. What a relation of mentor-ship! Paul mentors Titus, Titus is to equip the elderly and they are to mentor the young ones. But today the structure of the church has centered us on one person who cannot be able to feed us all closely. We search for them that can closely groom us, there is none. The church is so filled with destitute. Who are hungry for knowledge but cannot fully get. They are just gathered, less equipped yet more required of them. They are thirsty for the warmth of the love of Christ, yet there is nothing. They have become street kids who go pick any edible doctrine in any street. WHAT ARE WE BUSY WITH? The church is so busy, but not with souls. Souls die, get hurt, and give up in hopelessness yet in Church. Somebody somehow somewhere is not doing their Job! All we know is we are a generation without mentors. Can they be blamed, be rebuked for what they were never taught? Its time we come to the reality that one cannot harvest from seedlings. We cannot prune what we hardly water, it will die. Girls walk around naked but who has taught them. Boys live haphazardly in the church; give up on their God-given dreams but who has talked to them as a father. We genuinely cry for knowledge, we yearn for the living water but its vinegar we get. There is a cry in my heart. We have been taught on financial stewardship, but what about soul stewardship? When the Son of men appears will we be able to stand and say “which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost” SELAH….
