THE FIRST CHRISTMAS GIFT Just two weeks before Christmas Day, And Carols are the seasonal sound. Shopping & wrapping are well underway, With hustle and bustle all around town. Serious faces in all the shopping malls, With lists and packages in hands. Cant forget Aunt Mary and cousin Paul, Must hurry before the sales date ends. Joy to the World, the Carol informs us, So joy should be here the very last weeks. Christmas should be holy with no fuss, So try to explain our tired, aching feet. Christmas dinner at my house this year, Thirty are invited to arrive about noon. Fill the house with decor and candle cheer, The time is short and the day too soon. The tree is up and nativity scene displayed, And all little village houses do add charm. The toys are wrapped, the dinner is made. The fireplace is lit to make the scene warm. The beginning was a simple day so long ago, A baby born in a manger who began the joy. Now symbolized by Santa and scenes of snow, Is one way we can honor that holy baby boy. No matter the time and holiday stress grief, Our hearts fill with joy by this story of Old. Every year is rebirth of our faith in the belief, Of a gift of Maji in the Greatest Story Ever Told.
