THE FULLNESS OF PROPHECY THE PROPHETIC COMMUNITY ON EARTH. Sunday August 24, 2014 By Bishop Paul Glinzak Today, we will be looking at some scriptures in the Book of Joel. Joel was a prophet anointed by God with the ability to prophesy events that would come to pass almost 800 years later. In the scriptures, Joel shared a time when God would pour out His Spirit on all flesh. This prophecy was a fore runner to the devastation and judgment of The Day of the LORD. This time will be when all believers will actually experience the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit. The in-dwelling of Gods Spirit would make way for believers to form a Prophetic Community right here on earth! Prophecy will come from both old and young and when both women and men will prophesy, Salvation will now be for everyone and that everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved. This prophecy is being fulfilled daily and todays believer as well as the church body must do more than just sit and hear this message as the Holy Spirit is prompting us to move in the direction of Gods plan for Salvation. Let us focus on this role of the Prophetic Community on Earth as we read the following scriptures in Joel 2: 28 to 32. The Word of God says: 28. And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. 29. And also on my menservants and on my maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. 30. And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth; Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. 31. The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. 32. And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant of who the LORD calls. Alright church, these verses reveal that the church should be operating in prophecy, in dreams, and visions. If this is not happening within the Prophetic Community of Believers here on earth, something is wrong! We should be seeking the LORD in these areas because this is the time in history that the church must show itself strong in the LORD and the power of His might. This prophecy is coming to completion and we should make sure that we are operating in these areas because the LORD has equipped us to be effective and successful as the true church that He is coming for. Quit sitting on the sidelines and just thinking about yourself and get into Gods plans and get out of your own! This has to stop being about you and must be about what our Father in Heaven is wanting to do. Dont be a dead church! Lets get busy for God. Lets dig in and breakdown these verses. Starting in verse 28 it says: And it shall come to pass afterward. This describes a type of Spiritual Bridge from a land that Joel described as a land laid to waste from destruction, which brought about a mourning for this land, then came the Day of the LORD, which was followed by a call to repentance, and then God refreshed the land, and finally to the out pouring of the Holy Spirit. From this point there will eventually come the judging of all the nations by God at the end of the age and then the final blessing that God gives His people. A true prophet such as Joel will not only prophesy of impending danger but will also reveal Gods ability to forgive, restore, and bless those who call upon His name. True prophecy reveals in part what the mind of God is thinking and will reveal truthfully all that God has from the time of His prophecy going forward to His people. Also, in verse 28 it says: That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh: This tells us of the great abundance of what God is wanting to do in todays Prophetic Community here on earth. As the physical rains came in sufficient volume to restore the destroyed and parched land, as well as replenish the dry streams and rivers, the out pouring of the Holy Spirit is not only a spiritual outpouring but also reveals that this outpouring is an end of Satans ability to have dominion over mankind. God now is able to make a way by means of Salvation. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is now for all people regardless of their gender, age, or class. These categories are to be considered irrelevant among Gods Spirit-filled people. This means that whatever Spirit anointed ministry is available to sons is to be equally available to daughters. Throughout scripture prophesy involves someone speaking for God. It is vocal, it is authoritative, and is typically exercised in public and directed to the entire assembly. If this ministry is open to daughters, it is difficult to rightly with hold any ministry from them. Verse 28 it also mentions that: Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. Dreams and visions were the normal way in which prophecy came in Old Testament Times. Dreams of various types are mentioned in Scripture, ranging from ones own imagination to God being able to communicate with a person. There were also false dreams as mentioned in Jeremiah 23: 32. Many biblical figures such as Jacob, Pharaoh, and Laban, are known for having dreams. (Ref. 1 Kings 3:5 and Daniel 2:1). Joseph and Daniel were known as dreamers with revelation. They not only received their own dreams but also interpreted the dreams of others as well. In verse 29 it says: And also on my menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. Menservants and Maidservants are the slaves. In the Old Testament there is not even one instance of a slave functioning as a Prophet but that is not the case today. In Acts 2,Peter sees that the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost as the fulfillment of this prophecy. On the Day of Pentecost, the Spirit came with such power and force that it captured the attention of the masses gathered in Jerusalem for the festival. Peter takes hold of this prophetic section and declares: But this is what was spoken by the Prophet Joel. (Acts 2:16) A new age is born, the church is empowered, and now whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. Come on church, weve got to get after this! The coming of the Holy Spirit was not only for the apostles and their peers but was made clear by Peters statement in Acts 2:39 which says: The promise is to you and your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the LORD our God will call. In verse 30 it says: And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth; Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. These wonders are indicators of Gods coming judgment. They are mirrored after the plagues God brought upon Egypt at the time of Israels deliverance (See Exodus 7 to 11). They are also known as the phenomenas that accompany war. In Joel 2: 31 it says: The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. The moon can appear red when it is seen through heavy smoke. The days that are previous to the great and awesome day of the LORD will be days of great violence and war. In Joel 2: 32 it says: And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the remnant whom the LORD calls. While the world order is falling apart, whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. These signs of Gods judgment are disastrous for those who will continue in their sin. There are signs of redemption and deliverance to those who turn to the LORD. Mount Zion and Jerusalem are to be understood as figures for the dwelling place or presence of God. The remnant are those who are saved, and those who have called on the name of the LORD. In verse 32 it also says: Whom the LORD calls. This is seen as a two-fold type of Salvation. It is both the calling of God of men and the calling of God to men. God is calling to men through the miraculous wonders. Men can respond by calling on God and will be saved or delivered. In closing, there was no event in Joels time that answers this prophecy that we have looked at today in Joel 2: 28 to 32. It had its initial fulfillment on the Day of Pentecost when the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was the beginning of the last days. Joels prophecy will culminate again with the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and the subsequent end of the world. We are now living in these last days. There is an alarming rise in violence and war that characterizes history and should be understood as Gods beckoning call for men to call upon His name and be saved. Lets get busy spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost of this world. May God Bless You This Day And Always. In His Service, Bishop Paul Glinzak HSFC
