THE GNOSTIC NEW AGE JESUS The book on the Enneagram referred to in the Christianity Today article is by Richard Rohr and a co-author. Rohr, a Franciscan friar who runs the Center for Contemplative Action in NM, has hosted Buddhist and New Age speakers at his retreats/conferences. He also makes a distinction between the Christ and the historical Jesus, a classic tenet of Gnostic and New Age beliefs. In this lecture, starting at 13 min., Rohr says: Christ is the first idea in the mind of God, that is to materialize, to show Gods self in material creation. The Franciscan minority position is that no atonement is necessary. He calls it at-one-ment because there was no bill to be paid but simply a union to be named.
