THE GUITAR ODYSSEY - a documentary film on how the journey of Guitar started in Hindustani Music. This is a documentary film made during 1980s to record the history of Classical Guitar In India and how Pt. Brij Bhushan Kabraji, who was the pioneer and mentor of this instrument in India, introduced it in the arena of Hindustani music. As we all know that since the beginning of the history and after our independence in 1947, only traditional instruments like Veena,Sur Bahar, Sitar, Sarod etc. are popular in the field of classical music. At that time, people were very rigid to accept a new instrument such as Guitar, which was considered as unsuitable to play Indian Classical Music. In this documentary film, well watch the history of guitar in short and an interview with Pt. Brij Bhushan Kabraji, who explained and elaborated the situation and reasons for its introduction, how he got training from his Guru Ustad Ali Akbar Khan Saheb and many other unknown stories regarding its historical background. Today, when some Indian classical guitarists are running after one another to change the shape and structure and call it in different names to Indianise this instrument,which is itself considered as the most age old instrument in the world and is popular with its original name-GUITAR.
