THE HEALING POWER OF GOD THROUGH THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT #2 THE TRIPARITE BEING Spirit, Soul & Body “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through and may your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (I Thessalonians 5:23) 1. SPIRIT: Human spirit (Job 32 verse 8; Proverbs 20 verse 27; I Corinthians 6 verse 20; Ecclesiastes 12 verse 7) Spiritual condition: the fall...GOD gives a new spirit (Ezekiel 11 verse 19, 18 verse 31, 36 verse 31; Psalm 51 verses 10-12) We become new again when we take CHRIST as our LORD and SAVIOR, appropriating everything HE did on the Cross for us into our lives. II Corinthians 5 verses 17-19: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting mens sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” 2. SOUL: Mind (I Chronicles 22 verse 19; Psalm 23 verse 3, 119 verse 75; Proverbs 6 verse 32; Matthew 10 verse 28; John 12 verse 27; III John verse 2) Intellect...will...emotions (Luke 22 verse 42) INTELLECT: Is influenced by inherited temperament and the average person uses less than 10% of his brains capability (we die with 10 to 11 billion brain cells still used!). Thinking & memory are the chief functions, and the mind is to the emotions what food is to the body. What the mind feeds on becomes the most influential force in your life. THE WILL: This makes us unique because no one knows where it is located but we think it is in the brain because it depends on the mind and the emotions, and the will is influenced by a persons inherited temperament (some strong-willed, some weak-willed); by parental training, education and life experiences; by what the person reads, sees & hears; and by the way in which he or she thinks and feels, but the importance of will is that our life and eternal condition hang on it. If you choose to rebel against GOD, your life will constantly be in turmoil, but if you surrender control of your life to GOD, you will enjoy a life of fulfillment and oneness with both GOD and people. Parents play a significant role in training a childs will because they love and administer loving discipline, but theres a constant battle over who will control human thought processes...humanity, Satan or GOD because sooner or later every human being makes this decision. EMOTIONS: Feelings are not spontaneous, but they are created by what you put into your mind because you are what you read...you are what you see. What the eyes feast on forms an impression on the mind, which in turn feeds the emotions because if you want the right feelings, then see and hear the right things so you can generate the right thoughts. You can misuse your eyes to fan your desired until your emotions ignite a fire that rages beyond control, because we respond naturally to abnormal stimulus; and when you feel illicit feelings coming up inside you. Examine what you have been seeing & hearing...ponder how your mind has been thinking because to control your feelings, you must first control your mind and how you think will determine the way you live according to Proverbs 23 verse 7: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” 3. BODY: The Physical part of us HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU NEED HEALING? • Having a repetitive need or a craving for too much of anything • Dissatisfied a lot • Trying to fill empty places inside with other things or work or people other than GOD • Overt, conscious sin in your life • Unforgiveness in your heart • Lack of freedom in relationships: GOD and/or people • Uncomfortable with yourself or others • Negative memories keep coming up • Dont get along with parents or other family members • Outbursts of anger • Critical or judgmental • Feelings of low self-worth • Feelings of superiority • Lack of freedom in worship • Often sarcastic • Lack of repentance • Control issues • Feel victimized • Cant express feelings • Want to get even with someone • Fearful • Self-consciousness • Ungodly sorrow • Not intimate • Guarded with feelings • Doesnt ask for help • People pleaser • “Surrender” is not in your vocabulary FOR GOD I LIVE & FOR GOD I’LL DIE!!! THE HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL…BUT THE LABORERS ARE FEW!!!
