THE IMPORTANCE OF FINISHING As you approach the end of your training as a Purple belt, you begin to see the glimmerings of your black belt in the near future; all your work, patience, and struggle are beginning to pay off. But now is NOT the time to sit back and “let it happen”. Now is the time of finishing; a time to tie up loose ends and put on the final effort. Similar to running a marathon, the finish line is up ahead and now is the time to reach down deep inside yourself and put on the final burst of speed to reach your goal. It is a time to polish up what you know and to make it even better. Finishing something is an important lesson no matter what the task. It is the final effort that wraps up a project at school or work; the difference between getting an”A” and a “B”. It’s understanding that, after enjoying a meal, there’s dishes to clean. It’s leaving the camp site CLEANER than you found it, so the next campers will enjoy themselves EVEN MORE. It’s remembering to say “Thanks” when someone does something nice for you, instead of taking things for granted. Learning to complete what you start makes you a stronger person; a person who gets into the “quitting habit” will never reach the finish line and will never reach the finish line and will never experience the wonderful feelings that come from achieving a difficult goal.
