THE INFALLIBILITY OF SCRIPTURE - Do You Believe The Bible Is Really The Word of God? If so, why? Inspiration & Infallibility of the Bible The Bible states that, “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). The word inspiration in this verse means God breathed. The Bible also states that, “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:21). These two scriptures serve as a foundation for the inspiration and infallibility of scripture. Out of all the books that have ever been written, the Bible carries the lone distinction that it was inspired by a Holy God. Regardless of what the seminaries or the atheists claim, the above promises will forever remain true. One of the factors that have always been amazing to me is the lack of contradictions of the Bible. The Bible was written by 40 authors over a period of about 1600 years. Many of these authors did not have the ability to collaborate with each other. Yet their writings do not have contradictions. Major themes such as sin, salvation and eternity and many others are all in unity. Another factor that is hard to dispute is the historical accuracy of the Bible. I have a Bachelors degree in history and have always been intrigued by the subject. There were several secular historians who wrote about the events of the Bible. Josephus, a Jewish historian is the most well known of all of them. Historians can be used to back up the historical accuracy of the Bible which is another proof of its validity. One of the greatest proofs is the testimony of countless millions whose lives have been changed by believing the contents of the Bible. The fact that God has chosen to reveal Himself through His Word makes a compelling case for the inspiration and the infallibility of scripture.
