THE INSPIRATIONAL PEOPLE: ATENEO de SP ’65 By Rudy V. Verzonilla Allow me to share some keepsakes, memories and personal thoughts, with the hope to inspire the readers. The memories of the people who care so much are blessings in our life. Their sterling attributes and sacrifices for others are priceless treasure to be cherished. For after all, what will matter is-- how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what. And before I find myself running right into the dementia firing range of faltering memories, I share to you a host of wholesome memories that shall goad us to greater heights of meaningful and purposeful service to others. For many years now, Lito Jacinto of Ayala Alabang Village has been sending me txt, almost every day, just to say hello, or words like “Magandang umaga, mag kape na tayo, Pare.” Efren Cosico will be long remembered as the generous classmate, who fetches and gives a ride to this PWD and other classmates, during our meetings and special occasions. Dr. Medwin Mercado has been my doctor pro bono for many years now. His love for his family, and his longing to be with his wife, children and grand children, motivated him to interrupt his successful medical practice in SPC to be with them in Vallejo, CA. His patients, and the poor who regularly receive financial help from him, missed him greatly. Dr. Josef Largoza, the Chief anaesthesiologist, Regional Health Center, Alberta, Canada, is devoted to the cause of Couples for Christ and Gawad Kalinga...and they deliver the goods and services, literally and meaningfully to the needy and homeless Filipinos. And there is this compassionate surgeon Dr. DHoracio Biscocho of Texas. Elec. Engr. and K of C Grand Knight Ricky Supena is a lay minister of San Francisco, San Pablo City. He gives his time and energy to his parish church. Although busy, he once came to my house to give me Holy Communion. Atty. Hizon Arago’s unlimited support to Ateneo de SP ’65 mission to help the needy is priceless and invaluable. There is Atty. Pancho Belen who, with his wife, distributed eye glasses to the elderly of the City of San Pablo. Benjamin Ching, the retired Meralco man, is the energy, power and light-provider to Ateneo batch ’65. With Wilfredo Emlano, Elmer Inciong, Domingo Javier, Romeo Clerigo, Renato Joaquin, Emerito Manalo, Engr. Jovy Dychangco, Joselito Goza, Rogelio La’o , Delfin Onda, Tony Bandalaria, Rene Flores, Panchito Cuenca, and classmates in USA and Canada: Atty. Manny Dychangco, Carlos Isles, Charlie Cordova, Jim Virtucio, Ray Estiva, Frank Abenina and others--they keep the ball rolling for Ateneo de San Pablo ’65.. They are the inspirational people who have made a difference, giving encouragement to others, by their sincere and whole hearted dedication. I give KUDOS to all.
