THE LADIES AUXILIARY VFW CELEBRATES A CENTURY OF SERVICE Ann Panteleakos elected National President of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW at its 101st National Convention in St. Louis, Mo., today #LAVFWNC2014 ST. LOUIS, Mo. – July 23, 2014 — Ann Panteleakos, a Life Member of Albert J. Breault Auxiliary #1523, in Putnam, Conn., was elected National President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States at its 101st National Convention in St. Louis, Mo., today (July 23). She joined Albert J. Breault Ladies Auxiliary 1523 on the eligibility of her father who served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. During her term, she will introduce her theme, Patriotism Begins at Home, to focus attention on veterans and their families and on the support of VFW National Veterans Service through her joint special project with VFW Commander-in-Chief John Stroud, Operation Changing Lives. She is also calling on members to build a strong membership base by recruiting new members into the organization with the help of the National Certified Recruiter Trainers. During the past five years, Panteleakos has served in the offices leading to the National Presidency and represented the national organization at events throughout the country. Prior to that, she served as Auxiliary President, District President and 2005-06 Department President earning Outstanding Runner-Up President of the Year in her membership group. She has also been National Eastern Conference Chairman for the Mentoring and Publicity programs and as Director for the Patriotic Art/Voice of Democracy program. The election and installation of Panteleakos and the other 2014-2015 National Officers marks the completion of the National Convention, which began Saturday, July 19. The 3,000 members attending will now return home to conduct the organization’s many programs.
