THE LAW WAS MADE FOR MAN And he said unto them, The sabbath was - TopicsExpress

THE LAW WAS MADE FOR MAN And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Mark 2:27 One day in a little county where the authorities were so strict with driver’s license, made it a law that any one that don’t have a driver’s license should not drive. One day, in a public transport, the driver suddenly collapse on the stirring while driving and the passengers being so fortunate, the man sitting close to the driver can also drive. When the man forced himself into the brakes and stopped the car in the middle of a bush there arose another problem, he cant drive this driver to the hospital as suggested by other passengers that saw the need of saving the now collapsed transporter because he has no driver’s license. Finally, a nurse that was among the passengers after checking on the collapsed driver announced that if the driver is not taken to the hospital that he will die within the hour. This man that can drive for the fear of the law of this county didn’t oblige to until the driver died. How often like this man have we destroyed people because we want to keep to our laws? How many times have we kept ourselves in bondage or shown act of wickedness because we want to be obedient to the law. The Jews wouldn’t help people on the Sabbath day because they wanted to keep the law of the Sabbath. Jesus greatly condemned this attitude and said that the law and the Sabbath were made for man and not man for the Sabbath. If keeping the law will make you destroy the innocent, then the law shouldn’t the kept; saving lives and showing love is more important than keeping the law. In the seasonal film (24) Jack Bauer, the aim was to teach that saving lives is better than keeping the law and that message is the same message Christ is passing across to us today. That young man in my story should have broken the law by driving the dying driver to the hospital and save a soul rather than obeying the law and letting someone die. Though we should obey the law but when obeying the law keep us in a situation where we have to choose between being helpful and being lawful, we should chose being helpful; if been helpful is helping a right course. Always remember that the law was made for man and not man for the law. God bless you. Pastor Promise Ikpe Share the word.
