THE MAKER’S MAP [By FBI- First Baba Isa] Wednesday, 19th February, 2014. CONQUER BY KINDNESS. “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering.” -- Colossians 3:12 Rudyard Kipling and his wife had bought a farm on the slope of a mountain wild -- a sparsely occupied area. One day they went down their slope, across the valley, and up the opposite slope. There they came to a small hut, in which lived a lonely old woman. “Be you the windows across the valley?” asked the lady. She then told them with great enthusiasm how much comfort and company the lights were to her. Then she grew anxious and asked, “Be you going to stay and keep the lights burning, or maybe you not?” The Kiplings told her that they are going to stay, at least for some time. When they left their farm, they arranged to keep the lights burning. They also took off the curtains and shades so more light would shine out across the valley for the lonely old woman. “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” -- Dalai Lama The case-file of a captured officer who was to be executed was submitted to Abraham Lincoln. And Lincoln replied to General Rosecrans, the commander of the army of the South-West: “I have examined personally all the papers in the case, and I cannot see that it is a matter for executive interference. So, I turn it over to you with full confidence that you will do what is just and right; only begging you, my dear General, to do nothing in reprisal of the past, only what is necessary to secure the security for the future. And reminding you that we are not fighting against a foreign foe but our brothers, and our aim is not to break their spirit, but only to bring back their old allegiance. Conquer by kindness – let that be our policy. Very truly yours, A. Lincoln.” “If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them.” -- Dalai Lama Lao Tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher who was born in 604 BC, once said, “Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.” LET’S PRAY: O God give me the grace to “conquer by kindness”, in Jesus Name. Amen. SUCCESS ACTIVITY: Write down seven acts of kindness you will show people today. Go out and do them. CONFESSION: I am kindness in action!
