THE MAN OF THE MOMENT Every persons or groups of person with the kindest heart and understanding of Agwatashi and its environs would delightfully tell you that Arc Salihu H. Egyegbola is a coin gold in the socio-economic and political terrain. Egyegbola as fondly called is a man from humble background, nurtured in disciplined and selflessness. Am almost certain that not even the people of his abode fully understood what great thing had happened to them by the birth of this enigma. Through hard work, humility and commitment, difficulties could not stand on his way. Indeed, he is an avatar to all and sundry. He gives hope to the hopeless and helps to the helpless. Arc Salihu was born on 29th June 1959 in Agwatashi village of Obi Local Government in Nasarawa State. After his primary and secondary education, Arc Salihu proceeded to esteem Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Where he studied Architecture between 1979 and 1984 and bagged B. Sc and M. Sc Architecture with flying colours, he was one of the best students of his set. Arc Salihu’s consistency in diligence and humility fetched him a meritorious award of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1985 at Benue State. His loves for effective management of people and material resources to attain greater goals took him to University of Jos and studied Post-Graduate Diploma in Management in 1992. Arc Salihu started his working career with Umozeg Nigeria Ltd, a private firm based at Jos in 1982 as Construction Supervisor, from where he transferred his service to John Ameh and Associates Jos in 1983 in order to gain more experience as Pupil Architect. His steadfastness towards his obligations promoted him to position of Resident Architect in the same private firm incharge of its office at Makurdi in 1984. In 1985, he started Construction Practice with Terraspace Associates Ltd based in Jos, the plateau state capital. Arc Salihu interests to serve the country made him secured appointment with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Field Headquarters Jos, in 1987 as senior architect, where he rose to the position of Chief Resident Architect in plateau state . In 1996, when Nasarawa Sate was created, he was immediately transferred to Lafia as a pioneer Resident Architect and started the operations of the Ministry in the new state. In 2001, Arc Salihu was found worthy by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Field Headquarters Abuja and promoted him to the Chief Architect (Health Project) nation-wide. His passion to served the yearnings of his kith and kin resulted to his voluntarily retirement in 2003 and aspired as a Senatorial Candidate of his senatorial district. Within the ambit of professional affiliation, Arc Salihu has been a registered architect with the Architects Registration Council and astute member of Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA). His zeal for quality leadership and good governance gave him the deputy Chairmanship and Chairmanship position of Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA), Nasarawa State Chapter, from 2005-2007 and 2007-2010 respectively. Arc Salihu is a member, Society of Construction Industry arbitration of Nigeria. In 2014 he was elevated to the College of Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Architects; a laurel given to member with outstanding architectural contributions. He is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Commerce of Nigeria. Arc Salihu Hussain Egyegbola is admired by all and sundry for his uprightness and his legendary kindness to his community. He is revered for his ability to cater for the needs of the less priviledged in his society and provision of Scholarship Scheme for tertiary education students. Because of his love for ICT education he became the pioneer sponsor of African ICT Olympiad. These selfless services attracted the Alago Student Union (ASU) and conferred him with Award of Excellence in 2010. In 2013, the Congress of West African Youths bestowed him the revered Nelson Mandela Exemplary Leadership Award. Arc Salihu is a professional of greater repute, his acumen as Architecture is perhaps most excel. In area of management, Arc Salihu is credible consultant on engineering and construction also he is consistent farmer. He is a generous leader and obedient follower. Arc Salihu H. Egyegbola wealth of professional experience, managerial competency and legendary philanthropist put him in a good position for any elective position in our society.
