THE MATHEMATICS OF OPPORTUNITY COST OF SWAPPING THE MARGINALIZED AGAINST OTHERS My conversation with brother, James Abang. Sometimes ago, we met on these platform on similar issue. I believe you can still recall the incidence. May I submit that this sneaky sniper manner of attacking has become a marvelous daily literary diet. It is all fun when youre not at the receiving end. Sir, may I therefore overlay on your established protocol. (I like that one because you make me sound like am addressing Nigeria political rally). I must confess, sir, that I like reading your series on grandma’s cats, dogs and your daughters snake pet stories. I strongly suggest you put them in a booklet form for publication while Godswill is still in office for easy marketability. Sir, you titled yours “THE MATHEMATICS OF MARGINALIZATION OF ORO”. I will counter it with: “THE MATHEMATICS OF OPPORTUNITY COST OF SWAPPING THE MARGINALIZED AGAINST OTHERS”. Therefore, I will start by supposing A represents a Governor who has not nominated single Federal Ministerial appointee from his nation throughout his eight (8) years but keep nominating Fed Ministers from other nations e.g. Oro or Ibibio. And no representative in the Senate for the first time in our history, has 90% of his PAs and the SSG from outside his area contrary to the tradition of that office as practiced by others before him, etc, etc. B represents a people who saw (sees) nothing needful and strategic in supporting a single candidate from any other nations (Ibibio and Annang) when it was critical for that kind of support to nominate an Annang candidate for governorship in 2007. And C also represents a morbid mentality that is adduced from the selfish and opportunistic behaviors of the current political leadership of B. Let D in this instance represent those who claim they would do better yet their antecedences of refusal to support a single candidate out of the over 50 plus from Annang or Ibibio in 2007 point to contrary direction. Now, therefore, given an opportunity to B, C, D to produce a Uncommon or Common Transformer, will we derive fairness and equity? Additionally, is it wrong to infer or conclude that if a candidate emerges with same mentality as Hon. Robinson Uwak or Abang into Hilltop Mansion, would he care about the rest of the state in terms of development and political appointments. Taken into account of the opportunistic mentality when their political leadership engineered a solid block vote ignoring the alliance, Mr. Abang, often said existed between Annang and Oro? Let us find the probability value of A in this mathematics. In numerical terms, let begins as Mr. Abang has already set the path in his mathematical presentation against those he believes do not do enough from his wards, it is nothing but another sneaky way of getting to his main target. Anyway, we shall assign values to each, all things being equal. A = Y [where Y is valued at 4] B = X [where X is valued at 0] C = P [where P is valued at -2] D = P1 [where P1 is valued at -1] Let us find out the value of A which is Y considering Akwa Ibomites as the focused group in this Mathematics of Opportunity Cost of Swapping the Marginalized against other groups in Akwa Ibom State. This MATHS na tough one. So abeg please bear with me all you that are Mathematics phobic. It is important we try to present the value of Uncommon Transfer of Annang and Ibibio, Oop! I mean Uyo. (But the last I checked Uyo is the heartland of Ibibio. (Asan). Therefore, Hon. Robinson Uwak was a little smart by half with his calculated choice of the phrase - ...Transformer of Annang and Uyo”. It was a crude attempt to recruit the Ibibios against the Governor as if they needed extra help from an unknown entity like him who is desperately seeking relevance for second term reelection. Let me be categorical that my reaction here is not to defend a governor but to warn those who may have issues with their governor to direct their grievances to him rather than transfer their frustrations and aggressions towards the good, loving, peaceful and law abiding people of Annang Nation. We will not accept. So Mr. Abang here we go. B+C+(-D) {X+P(-P1)} 0+-2×-1=-2 A = Y-X+P (-P1)= 0+-2+-1=-3 AY = 4 -(-3)=7 Therefore A (Y) = 7. Seven (7) happens to be a perfect number. Coincidence or what? INTERPRETATION. It is now clear based on Mathematical submission that anyone from any of the nations in Akwa Ibom with the value of Y may be suitable for the governorship of Akwa Ibom State to a level of doubling his/her value not just to his ethnic groupings. In other words, whether such a person is an Uncommon Transformer or a Common Transformer, he or she is most likely to be for the interest of entire state of Akwa Ibom not just a section. Hence, as 2015 approaches, we should identify a Y personality amongst the bunch. Now, when I first read of a young man representing Oro nation in Federal House of Representatives in Abuja called Hon. Robinson Uwak, writing on his facebook page, describing Godswill Akpabio as Uncommon Transformer of Annang and Ibibio (Uyo), I saw it as a direct declaration of confrontation on the two nations of Akwa Ibom (Ibibio and Annang). He should have had the sense of directing his firepower towards his Governor alone. However, he misfired blindly at wrong targets and trying to injure innocent standbys (Annang and Ibibio) when he should be seriously courting them at this moment. Common sense failed him again! What is amazing is that since he realized that he is an enemy combatant, he has refused to swallow his pride and apologize to the good people of the two nations even till now. How super negatively intelligent Mr. Uwak is! I wondered what would have made a young man who supposed to be Honorable and a Representative of a great nation of Oro turns out to be so juvenile and a spoiled brat in his behavior and refused to acknowledge his mistakes when pointed out to him? However, some of his pals insisted that the Honorable over indulgence in “liquid content only” sometimes have a better part of him. Although I have no first hand knowledge, I hazard the belief until he comes out to disprove it because there is no lucid reason for his naughtiness against people that have no quarrel with him. Otherwise, what level of madness is he in to attack Annang people who have not offended him in anyway. I have stated that any Akwa Ibomite may abuse their Governor but they have no right whatsoever to insult or ridicule the nation of Annang just because the current Governor is an Annang. Mr. Robinson Uwak needs to hear this story of a mad man who advised his follow mad man in Ikot Ekpene. One fine Sunday morning, a handsome lunatic decided to demonstrate his madness to the public just being in his formidable years of his madness. He took an iron rod and started destroying peoples properties, cars, store windows, etc, and prevented churchgoers from carrying out their Christian responsibilities. No one was brave enough to restrain him. Everyone was at bay watching the rampage. A circle was formed immediately (If you know the Raffia City well, it doesnt take much to bring people on the streets) to watch the show as carried out by this young deranged man. Friends called friends to come and they came in droves. A serious crowd was now formed around the youthful looking crackpot. Then came a well-known madman who was noted to be very friendly with residents of the Raffia City, very popular even with kids, his psychological condition notwithstanding. The deranged man by mere appearance was an embodiment of insanity. He emerged and made an inquest on why there was such a tremendous gathering on the street on Sunday morning. He was politely informed and they pointed to the direction of the energetic young lunatic. The senior Mad Oga, started laughing so much that he even stole part of 15 minutes of fame of his young colleague. At this point, the onlookers were busy exchanging the directions of the viewing like Spike Lee movie making technique, back and forth – to the young madman and to the older madman, who was still laughing himself out. Momentarily in a tenor voice, he said: That is not how to be mad. Swiftly, he moved towards the direction of the young crazy guy still swinging his rod and destroying more properties. Everyone held their breaths as he approached the young lunatic still breaking car windows. He shouted at the top of his voice, Youngman, this is not how to be mad. I didnt act like this for you to come and see madness that you are enjoying today”. “If all of us elderly mad people behave like you, there would be no mad person on the streets for you to be an honorable member in good standing”, he stated angrily. Senior (that is how the kids addressed him) added as a warning to the young lunatic, Dont you know that if you continue in this manner these people standing around to watch you may close ranks and attack you? That would be the end of your madness and that is not in your best interest or the best interests of all mad people in the Raffia City, he emphasized. Adding, Senior pointed the youthful mad person to the direction of the former famous Ikot Ekpene Prison, the only legacy left at Ikot Ekpene as evidence of being the first experimental local government in British West Africa, and said to him, look if you dont cease conduct yourself like a MAD man, you will end up there. As Senior was speaking rapidly and pointing towards the direction of the old Prison to the youthful crazy guy, his eyeballs were rolling according to the direction of Seniors pointed fingers. The youthful lunatic slowly dropped his weapon. The crowd started clapping. (There is nothing surprising or strange about the clapping of hands here because Raffia City residents clap for anything. They even clapped for a lady armed robber for the mastery of weapon handling by firing her machine gun endlessly in all direction during a bank robbery operation in the town while the MOPOL stood at a safe distance to watch). Anyway, the memory verse in this story is, Mr. Robinson Uwak, THAT IS NOT HOW TO BE MAD. If madness is “performed” the manner you are doing, you would not see mad people to join. I am from Essien Udim, if I video the road leading to my compound, the one you wasted the money you should have used to pay school fees for one young person in Oro, would be a child’s play. That is not enough for me to brand and paint the people of Ikot Ntuen in one wide brush or be obnoxiously disrespectful to the whole village because their son happens to be a governor. I am sure after ten successively governors in the state, (military boys, please o) when they have no other roads to construct, they will come to mine because they can’t steal money without subheads. (By the way, my mechanic is seriously praying that the road leading to my compound would not be fixed. He’s not even hiding his feelings about that. Can you imagine?) It should be clear to you, Robinson and others, that the Annangs will defend themselves when harassed from any angle. We have done it before and we shall do it again any day, anytime. That should be known to those who may wish to engaged in foolishness. I should add that any disagreements between Annang leaders must not be misunderstood by any of our neighbors otherwise they would miscalculate with serious consequences. Therefore, if Hon. Robinson Uwak of this world swims or baths in liquid content only or have serious fantasy with bottles, it is none of my problem so long as he does not disrespects the Annangs who are no enemies of Oro nation. If he wants to be a great Uncommon or Common Transformer of Oro nation, the field is wide opened. He can throw his hat in and test his popularity. I am pretty sure he aint the messiah Oro nation has been waiting for when a respectable gentleman like Larry Esin and many noble men and women of Oro nation are still breathing. I waited long enough to see whether Mr. Uwak will realize his recklessness and make amend but he has not but seems to be fishing more in troubled waters. He is free to do whatever he likes provided he does it without cheekiness towards the entire people of Annang nation because we have our own stories to tell. And we are very conscious and knowledgeable of the fact that politics is a revolving door. One day, Oro nation will produce a governor of the state. We are like an Elephant with long memory and once a while we do stroll through our memory lanes. The Annangs are peaceful, friendly and loving people. However, we are like Nton” leave (scent leaves). One can ONLY perceive its odor when one touches it (disturbs/interferes with it). If no one messes with it, he or she will not know that it has an amazing aroma, scent or smell. Godswill Obot Akpabio is the governor of Akwa Ibom State. Annang nation (people) is not. That should be clear. Therefore, we reserve the right at the time of our chosen to defend ourselves very proudly as always. The Robinson Uwaks, please be aware if you thinks the best way to get to the Godswill Obot Akpabio is by mocking, or being contemptuous and rude to Annang Nation, the message is unmistakably clear, that is not how to be mad because such madness will be cured by us instanta. You should learn the robe on how to be a good mad man so that you may one day becomes a senior and an elder in the kingdom of madness. This is the way it is now. Ukpong Ekam
