THE MENTALITY OF PROJECT COMMISSIONING: I’m baffled at the way the social media has been flopped with the propaganda that “Amosun did not commission anything” in his ongoing ward assessment tours. Truly, why has SIA not been “commissioning”, could it be that he has not done anything or complete any project in his 3 years of administration as claimed? Then, some projects came to my mind, and I asked, WHEN DID SIA COMMISSION THESE PROJECTS? • The 13 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and other security equipment that he handed over to the Nigerian Police in order to ensure security & safety of the people. • Over 500 transformers distributed to the CDAs. • Over a Billion Naira Agricultural equipment procured for the farmers in the state. • The free textbooks distributed to all Primary & Secondary Schools in the State. • Over 150 metro taxi cabs bought to ease transportation problem in Ogun State. • Over 100 Ogun State Bus Mass transit being used for transportation in Ogun/Lagos state • The buses recently distributed to the higher institutions in the state. • Over 1000 blocks of classrooms renovated all over the states including the newly constructed blocks • The Hospital Equipment that worth over a Billion Naira that was imported for some hospitals in the state. • Many unmotorable roads have been fixed by OGROMA under SIA, yet none has been commissioned…….etc. Sincerely, I could not remember when all these and many more projects were actually COMMISSIONED in the real sense of it as it used to happen during the past administrations. If I may ask, have you ever seen SIA getting a band set because he want to commission the contractors’ movement to site as was exhibited when President Jonathan came to do same for Lagos-Ibadan road project? I remembered the era of the last administration, where 2 to 3hours air time are bought on radio and television just to greet or welcome Governor that want to come and commission less than N100,000 borehole water project. Ankara materials will be distributed free for the people to wear. Any radio announcement that did not include all the chieftaincy titles of the Governor will be invalid and the entire community may be in trouble for that. That is the philosophy of that administration. Have you ever seen any project with “SIA-Team” on it, perhaps this is one major reason why some people erroneously concluded that this administration has nothing to commission? Imagine, if “SIA-Team” were to be written on all the renovated schools or on all the book materials distributed to students? We need to understand the philosophy of every administration, SIA administration does not believe in unnecessary noise, his philosophy is “do more, talk less” while the previous administration believed in “do less or nothing, and shout more”. If a governor has to be commissioning all the transformer distributed to the CDAs, what time will such governor has to plan for more critical things? The mentality of commissioning “anything” in order to proof that an administration is working is becoming out of fashion, the earlier we re-orientate ourselves on this, the better for our society. People never know the worth of what they have until they lose it. For us, let the Rebuilding Mission continues beyond 2015.
