THE MERCENARY (4:30, 10:00) Most people know of the great Sergio Leone, but if there were a runner-up prize for best Spaghetti Western director, it would certainly go to Sergio Corbucci. Several of his films were an influence on DJANGO UNCHAINED including this semi-comedic gem and, obviously, his 1966 feature Django, also starring Franco Nero. Here Nero stars as a Polish mercenary who hooks up with a Mexican revolutionary (Musante), and they both end up in a cat-and-mouse chase with ruthless bounty hunter “Curly” (played by the always-sinister Jack Palance). brattlefilm.org
