THE METTA MEDITATION (Step 3): Once again, take some deep breaths and let them go fully. Turn your thoughts inward to a place of sanctuary and quiet. Tune out your surroundings. Imagine a great light above you and slightly in front of you pouring light down over you, expanding until your light blends with the Divine light. Repeat this blessing for yourself several times: May I be at peace, may my heart remain open. May I awaken to the light of my own true nature. May I be healed, may I be a source of healing for all beings. Next bring a loved one to mind. Visualize them with as much detail as possible. Imagine that loving and healing light shining down on them revealing the light within their own life. Imagine this light pouring down over them, expanding until their life light blends with the Divine Light. Bless them by saying: May you be at peace, may your heart remain open. May you awaken to the light of your own true nature. May you be healed, may you be a source of healing for all beings. Now, think of someone whom you hold in judgment but need to forgive for your own peace of mind and heart. Visualize them with as much detail as possible. Imagine that loving and healing light shining down on them revealing the light within their own life. Imagine this light pouring down over them, expanding until their life light blends with the Divine Light. Bless them by saying: May you be at peace, may your heart remain open. May you awaken to the light of your own true nature. May you be healed, may you be a source of healing for all beings. Repeat this blessing for as many "burrs under your saddle" as you wish.
