THE NIGHT WE DANCED If I could only search your eyes And once more have the chance To see the way you looked at me That night that we both danced. In innocence we both began To spin and swing and sway Never getting close enough Yet barely far away. But every song that played we were There upon the floor Privately seeking out the other Secretly wishing more. Until the moment, just you and I Came face to face alone The natural thing- to reach and hold When the music played soft and slow. Then I looked up into your eyes And you gazed into mine I often wondered what you saw That made you start to cry. Song after song we danced as one You never glanced away I felt and saw a soul that night Speaking more than words could say.
