‘THE POWER GOD HAS GIVEN US’ ‘LET’- ‘LET NOT’ “SWORD OF THE SPIRIT” Bible Study – March 12, 2k14 Colossians 3:10-17 James 1:2-6 Note: We must learn through the scriptures, the power God has given us, know our responsibilities in the new covenant, spiritually understand what God has empowered us to allow and what He has empowered us not to allow. He has given us the power to ‘LET’ and ‘LET NOT’ by faith we permit the joy, peace and blessings He has for us. We learn to “LET’, or ‘LET NOT’ admit, allow, permit; to give ones consent to: approbate, approve, authorize, consent, endorse, permit, sanction. We are made free in Christ therefore we must give the Spirit of God permission to dwell in us, we must allow the Word of God to order our steps, this is a conscious effort on our part. We then learn what to allow and what not to allow, in our hearts, our thinking and actions. [James 1:25] Our Father does not force us He loves us! Jeremiah 31:3 “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Matthew 13:8-9 “But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. 9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.” 1 John 2:24 “Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.” We must give ourselves permission to follow Christ Jesus! Don’t get in the way of self! Luke 9:23 “And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” The Word of God also teaches us “LET NOT’! John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.” Romans 6:12 “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” Ephesians 4:26 ”Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:” ‘LET’ ALLOW; GET SELF OUT OF THE WAY! Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Hebrews 13:15 “By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.” Philippians 1:27-28 “Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” It may not look like it, this is an ‘I must let’ verse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mark 12:30 “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” [2 Peter 1:11] We are indeed free so that we may ‘LET’, CONSENT TO, GIVE PERMISSION, ALLOW! John 8:36 “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” The safest place in the whole wide world is in the will of GOD! J Burnett JAckson
