THE RICE, THE HUNGER, THE IDEA-BARREN POLITICIANS When you give them BAGS OF RICE during your electoral campaign, do you ask them what they were eating before then??? And what they will eat after your election??? When you give the BAGS OF RICE during the Ramadan fasting festival, do you ask them what they were eating before this period??? And what they will eat after the festival??? You hypocrites, very soon you will meet your waterloo! You use ill-gotten wealth to cajole the less-privileged hungry people. God Almighty will judge your intent and reward you accordingly!!! You politicians who do this, you can never think better than your faculty, anyway! Religious leaders also keep quiet!!! Many of you even collect same from them!!! You never asked why is it that the politicians no longer give RAMADAN OR XMAS gifts to your congregation once they leave office! It is simple, they no longer have access to the public money. Whenever they want to come back to power, they can enter into debt to do this again. The singular fact that they print their names and party logos on the gift is enough for you to ask questions of them! To you who collect the rice out of hunger, many our good God deliver you from hunger! So that these people taking advantage of your situation will seize from doing so. To you who collect the rice out of ignorance, many your ignorance be healed! May it be clear to you that the bags of rice you collect from them were bought, mostly, from the ill-gotten money, stolen from your commonwealth. If such money had been used to provide more jobs......, If only such money had not been embezzled and it has been used to fight poverty ab initio......... If only such money has been used to help provide better qualitative education in our public primary and secondary schools.... To all well meaning readers here. I challenge you all to be thinking of how we can practically help the ignorant and hungry people receiving this PERIODIC and INSULTING rice. I have been thinking through, since the first episode in Ekiti, and now that the ill-idea is proliferated even in Osun and Oyo States. We need to provide a counter-approach to this very dangerous trend, putting into consideration the Yoruba adage that says: Ebi kii wonu ki oro mii wo (An hungry person may not likely listen to you, he will rather listen to the person providing him with food). Moreso, many of them are not present on this platform. That is the challenge we face here! So, our approach will likely be to put some senses into the brains of those idea-barren politicians (they are here, their cronies are here), so they can divert their ill-gotten wealth into a more meaningful and non-insulting venture. Even if they genuinely want to give out foods to the people, there should be a better way to do this. Still thinking. Please, you can also think of a better idea.
