THE SHEWSBURY & DISTRICT MEDIABOX SNOOKER LEAGUE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DIVISION ONE --------------------- REMAN C STAR IN OUTSTANDING POTTING FORM ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNISON D 1 v REMAN C 4 Colin Beaman met a player now on 7 out of 7 wins Steve Shingler who was in outstanding potting form with breaks of 30 & 33 he won 97-21. Then Scott Moseley was out played by Jon Wright 34-61. In the 3rd Gavin Tommy out potted Neil Chislett for an easy 78-20 win. In the last Clive Phillips had a walk-over 147-0. Unison not having a 4th player. Man of the Match STEVE SHINGLER. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STANTON A 5 v HARLESCOTT D 0 In the first both potted well but John Banks always in change against Dan Morris winning 78-36 Break 26. In 2nd Guard Singh went 20 ahead then Lee Barker really potted well to win 86-39 comfortably break 20. The 3rd saw Dan Nicholas potting well to move 25 in front, Steve Adams got going to come back well for a good 81-33 win. In the last Tony Watkins got some form back to pot well and win easily. Chris Smith potted all the colours to close the gap to 58-37. Tony had a 24 break. Man of the Match; LEE BARKER. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MEOLE A 1 v REMAN A 4 In the first both players missed easy chances until Mike Barnsley started to pot well & took the frame with the help of a 24 break. Adrian Jennings did close the gap but still lost 35-68. The 2nd saw both players neck & neck until Darren Pierce pulled away from Darren Watkins to win 70-36. In the 3rd Pete Connor went back in years with some excellent potting he never gave Dave Davies any chances in winning 81-29 break 21. The last was a frame of missed chances both off form. Richard Taylor missed chance after chance helping Mark Blomfield win 63-35. Man of the Match; PETE CONNOR. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRESTON BROCKHURST A 1 v HARLESCOTT A 4 Some great potting by Pip Higgins who went into the lead in the first frame and stayed there. He had a little luck at times but thoroughly deserved the 64-27 win over Adrian Rowe. Then Hugh Rowlands was out-potted by Steve Maddocks with some steady potting. Hugh leaving balls set up for Steve to take advantage and win 73-34. The 3rd was a match Arnold Mulligan should have won with ease, Arn letting Roger Davies in with some careless shots. Arn missed the Pink & left Pink over the hole for Roger to pot & Black to just win 60-55. In the last the Skipper broke off poorly. Callum Wraight getting a 16 break then a very good 40 break. Alan Trowsdale not playing at all. Callum won 98-14. Man of the Match; CALLUM WRAIGHT. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMAN B 2 v MEOLE F 3 Dave Ferriday lost the first 41-50 to Andy Bowers. Then Ian Evans was just beaten by Andy Sparkes 44-53. In the 3rd Mark Mason potting was far to good to A.Downes who did well to score 41 points against Mark getting 95 points. In a good scoring final frame Ian Ferriday was a bit unlucky to lose 54-61 to Dave Berry. Ian kept the aggregate for Reman. Man of the Match; MARK MASON. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMAN H 4 v BAGLEY C 1 In a very tight first frame Terry Jones just made it 46-45 against unlucky Mike Jones. The 2nd saw Martyn Travis hit top form with a 26 break and beating Gary Prosser 104-14. The 3rd saw a good win for the visitors when Gaz Hughes lost 41-53 to Nigel Morgan. The last was tight Haydn Cross just made it 53-47 against Paul Morgan. Man of the Match; MARTYN TRAVIS. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DIVISION TWO SEVERNSIDE A 1 v MEOLE E 4 Tight frames in the games Meole potting vital colours at the end. Derek Howells just lost to Jim Clark 48-62. Then Vince Little was always in front against Martin Stott to win 62-42. Then the visitors went 2-1 up Dave Sheridan going down 47-59 to Andrew Corfield. In the last Ade Murray went down 37-58 to inform Emrys Rowlands. Man of the Match; EMRYS ROWLANDS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEM UTD 5 + 1 bonus point v OLD SHREWSBURY A 0 The Wem Lads pull off the win of the week against the Shrews, Sam Breakes put in a great performance with a 41 bonus break. John Vernon did will to score 40 points against Sam who won 71-40. Ian Dowley then made it 2-0 beating Tony Preece 52-35. In the 3rd Martyn Bebb had a easy 66-25 win over Reg Jones. The last frame was tight Ian Bailey just winning 46-38 against Danny Christmas. Man of the Match; SAM BREAKES. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BAGLEY A 2 v WEM CONSERVATIVE A 3 Bagley looked down and out after losing the first three frames until Alan Ball stepped to the table and pulled back 2 points. Martin Young just lost a tight frame 39-41 to Pete Broomhall Mick Keene lost the 2rd 35-53 to Adam Batha. In the 3rd Kevin Pilsbury put in a good performance but still lost 50-62 to Oliver Broomhall. At the back Alan Ball put in the performance of the night in winning 83-32 to beat Gerald Hughes and take the aggregate point. Man of the Match; ALAN BALL. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MEOLE G 1 v REMAN D 4 The G Slingers had a very good start when Andy Wigginton took the first frame 77-49 playing Craig Charles. After the first it went the visitors way. Pete Taylor lost to Tony Antrobus 31-63. Then Pete Price went down 36-53 to Neil Thomas. In the last Dave Pryce was beaten 34-68 by Derek Jones. Man of the Match ANDY WIGGINTON. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HARLESCOTT C 2 v REMAN I 3 Bev Highfield won a tight first frame 47-45 against Jon Evans. Then Terri Dyke Prior was well beaten by Paul Meredith who made a good 24 break in winning 63-18. The 3rd saw Lisa Yates hit top form with breaks of 24 & 22 against Steve Booth. Lisa won 71-59. At the back Tracy Williams was well beaten by Nat Archer 15-69. Lady of the Match; LISA YATES. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNISON C 4 v REMAN G 1 The Unison homesters had a good to move them up the League. The first was tight Gerald Downes just losing 32-42 to the unbeaten Matt Ryder. In the 2nd John Barton was unstoppable playing off owe 10 he made breaks of 24 & 28 to win 99-17 against Paul Ryder. The 3rd was a very good 70-32 for Tony Coffey over John Evans. The last was close Max Canham and Brian Nelson playing well. Max just winning 53-49. Man of the Match;- JOHN BARTON. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMAN E 2 v WEM UTD C 3 Reman go 2-0 down again when Terry Burgess was well beaten by Colin Smith 23-75. The 2nd was a bit closer John Grenville lost out to Mike Fielder 48-68. The 3rd saw a big win for Bob Grocott 82-35 playing Josh Whittall. Tim Breese was a bit lucky in the last to just win on the black ball 52-42 playing Derek Wright. Man of the Match;- BOB GROCOTT. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEM UTD B 2 v WEM CONSERVATIVE B 3 The homesters go 2-1 up and 11up on aggregate. Paul Seaston takes the first well 65-36 against Tim Dodington. Then Duncan Hill was beaten 29-67 by Jon Walmsley. Alan Anson took the 3rd 59-39 playing Roger Dodington. In the last Stuart Sim was defeated by John Darlington 34-68. Man of the Match;- JON DARLINGTON. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONDOVER A 2 v BEACONSFIELD C 3 Duncan Bellingham had to pot well to beat Pete Morris owe 7 by 72-53. In the 2nd Clive Hasted went down 32-46 to Dave Fisher. The 3rd was tight Mark Potter getting a 18 break to win 56-54 against Geoff Killingsworth. In the last Jason Vaghela was well beaten 25-61 by Mike Ryder owe 7.
