THE SONG OF KASPAR HAUSER Lars Thor Smith A mythology for the 21st millennium ”Kaspar´s destiny is the mythology for the battle of consciousness in the service of our individual spirit. Thus we partake in it and in his mysterious life and in his mysterious death. We all spontaneuosly partake in it, for we feel his destiny to be also our own destiny. ” Carlo Pietzner ”Truly, truly I tell you, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” St. John, 3, 3 “I am not yet born; O hear me.” Louis Macneice, Prayer Before Birth “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered… And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.” The Apocalypse of Saint John, 12th chapter 1-2, 5 I The eternal I comes to the world To be born by man It has been born unto the world, But each man must bear it again. It comes in a house that is possessed - Will you drive out the spirits ? It is naked – will you clothe it in the Cloak of unselfishness - ? It is hungry – will you feed it with The bread of eternal - ? It is homeless and a stranger - Will you take it in and give it Shelter in the home of the Spirit - ? The eternal I comes to the world, Alone it comes, not yet born, It comes to be born. And to bear Alone it comes to the world, With eyes not yet seeing, With ears not yet hearing. The I comes to be born, It comes to the world to be born Again with the help of the world. It comes to the world with senses Which sleep in the darkness of self. It comes to be born out of the senses. Alone, without past, without home it comes. Disinherited it comes. The I is not yet born. The false master of the house, O how he maltreated the household! But beware! The Master returns to his house With a sword and a scourge! And doom comes over the house, Which has been sleeping for so long. The master comes to bear witness Of the disturbance in the house, the disease. He comes to bear witness of the disease in every man, Carrying it on his shoulders as a cross That men may know it. That men may know themselves. O, may we confront the false master of the household, May we not worship him instead of the true Master, Out of ease! Beware! You have a prince within you, The prince of Europe has come, The true inheritor of the throne of Europe comes. The Idiot Child is a prince, But his throne has been robbed, A knave has seated himself on it Covering his horns with a crown That does not belong to him, The crown of the twelve silver stars, The cloak of Sun and as footstool the Moon. Beware that you do not mock the words Of the Idiot Child as madness! O the I, it comes wearing a white immaculate shirt, It has preserved itself to clean The poisened Communion, With water of Innocence and youthful freshness. Will you be the Sun for the new Seeds of senses to grow- ? And the I-seed grows. And it grows into the future. The I-seed sprouts into the world, Meeting the germ of the body of the world. It takes leaves and puts forth flowers. It catches a bird from the sky. Or loses itself in the flight of a butterfly. Will you become the mould and the new ground For the I-seed ? Will you be the new Sun.- ? O for the ground has become rotten everywhere And the Sun has been put out. O the eternal I comes to the world With faculties not yet born, To be lured out and called upon by the world. It imparts and entrusts itself to the world, To be born out of it. It has come for a midwife And a gardener. II (KASPAR´S SONG) ”O grant it ear and body, This discarnated lonely Word, This flower not unfolded. This unpresented treasure! The warmth and sunshine be That never made It´s shapeless form Fall into mould of living ecstasy! O touch it gentle, This petal flesh That senseless dwelled In shadow for so long - The gentle gardener be, Fostering the summer of this rose That never grew - A reliable a Sun As it ever knew!” III (LITTLE CHILD`S SONG) ”O world, who fosters me! My tender gardener be My summer temperature My cloudy, rainy days. O share your confidence - The air I breathe! The richness in my plays The pictures that I love to see - O world give birth to me! O world give birth to me! Before I cling to self That will not see Until I find myself The self that stronger is Than me – o let me stay! Keep me within you! Give promise that I wont betray The soulful breath By which I live For something that I cannot give My full attention to- Which puts me under sway Of self before I learn to love As mine your way - O world who fosters me!” IV (TO THE LORD OF KARMA) Through you Let me become a carrier Instead of a burdened A blessed and remembered Instead of a cursed and forgotten. Through you may illness elevate me Instead of dragging me down May it purify me Instead of hardening me. May I experience suffering As the entrance of your will Rather than as an obstruction Of my own May your forgiveness And mildness with me Become an opening To the purposes of hearts- Weaving into the suffering A confidence in the love of others, Thereby creating Invisible community V (KASPAR HAUSER) He came to us A clean slate Of pure ability And readiness to learn, Reminding us That man can again Become a child Born out of Spirit´s Grace. He was a messenger Of Cosmic Man, eternal Logos, The Way of Freedom in our fate The Truth of Spiritual Life The Life of Newborn Thinking. VI ADOLF HITLER He came to us Prepared with sin Of atavistic demonism Self-sufficient, barred Against experience. Reminding us That man can Loose himself In flesh and blood. He was a messenger Of the two-horned beast Hatred and denial of Fate Lie about a paradise on earth Death of intellectual thought. Beware that when they come again The Beast and the Eternal Man We do not choose The wrong to worship! VII Notes: Exactly one hundred years after the assassination (1833) of the true heir to the throne of the Royal House of Baden, whose reign would have changed the history of Europe as the representative of the true German folk spirit, the social realization of the German idealism from earlier in this century, the representative of the German folk-demon started his reign of terror, letting the worst in the German soul, the thought of the superiority of blood inheritance and the expansion of the German ”Reich”, spread as a devouring fire over the entire world. Kaspar Hauser was born in Karlsruhe, but first appeared in public in Nuremberg, which was later to become the heart of the Nazi movement, but also the site of the big allied war trial that investigated the Nazicrimes commited during the war...Thus it also was in the fate of this city to become the center of the future Anglo-American world hegemony. The two characters, Kaspar Hauser and Hitler, may be looked upon as polarities in history : 1. Kaspar Hauser, though being deprived of 14 years of his life from the time he was 2 and a half years old until he was 16 and a half, a victim of an occult crime and of nameless misunderstandings as to his true nature, and finally assassinated by his secret enemies, felt no bitterness towards his fellow men or his fate. ”No one harmed me”, he said on his deathbed. Whereas hatred and bitterness springing from his hard years as a youth were the driving forces in Hitler´s rise to power. 2. Hitler promised the Aryan race ”a paradise on earth”, which would last for 1000 years, whereas Kaspar Hauser´s whole life was a picture of the triumph of the free spirit of man, independent of inheritance and blood ties, though exposed to impossible outer conditions. Hitler preached power. Hauser was the incarnated powerlessness. 3. Daumer, Hauser´s tutor, stated that learning for the sake of learning itself was the real absorbing interest of Kaspar Hauser. He was a genius of imitation and there was no end to his curiosity of the world. Hitler states in ”Mein Kampf” that his early years in Vienna were crucial in his life, because there ”I learned everything I had to learn, never ever having to change anything since then. ” Hermann Rauschnigg, once Nazi Gauleiter, Hitler´s biographer, says that Hitler was a man unable to learn or develop by experience. He stayed the same all through his life... +++ The understanding of the polatities Hauser-Hitler is a key not only to understanding the true folk spirit of Germany, which connects itself more freely with the life of the individual person, but also to the challenge we face in the 21st century. Hauser became the incarnated proof of the threefold Christ-initiation of the Way, the Truth and the Life. Hitler was the negation of this ideal, representing denial, lie and death. Hauser´s mission could not be obscured by the evil plans unfolded to harm him. In his 21st year he experienced an awakening and a new remembrance of his mission when on the 20th of May 1833 he was confirmated in the Schwanenritter Kapelle in the Gumbertus Church in Ansbach. Will mankind grow up and, as a parallel to the individual developmental law, where the I-forces come to life around the 21st year, awake to the spiritual maturity and responsibility for life on earth ? Or will we choose the outward political solution from the mighty deception of a soon-to- appear world dictator ? This is the big question and it is not a theoretical question: it is put to the heart of every single man and woman on earth and the question is: will I choose spirit or materiallism ?
